We had our 2 year old in tow so decided to do the short 55 minute trip. I have to agree with others and say it wasn't the most scenic of trips, but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless. We sat in the open car which was nice. Our little boy loved it when they train's whistle blew. The train stopped briefly for a turn around so it meant there was an opportunity to get off and take some pics of the steam engine. Would maybe try one of the longer trips next time.

We were very disapointed with this trip, as to call it a scenic ride is streching it, there is nothing to see except tree's no views at all, although on the way back you do get to see a couple of clearings, maybe it's best to have lunch on the train then you have something to look at, the station is well worth a look at .

What a trip, even if you just take the the 13/4 hour return trip to Bartlett you will see some lovely sights and cross some lazy rivers whilst getting an inspired narration from a local expert.

It's fun to travel back in time and see what is was like then. There is not a lot to see on this trip unless you like trees and ferns. We had lunch in the dining car and again is was OK. Adequate. Fortunately we met some nice folks on board that helped to make it somewhat memorable. I'd say save your money and go up Mt. Washington on the cog railway. That s an experience.

We took the 5.5hour trip, it was lovely, but it was a little long. We would have been happier with 3 hours or so. The views are spectacular, the trees were all starting to change colour as well. We also had lunch which was surprisingly good. I would recommend this to anyone but be prepared for a long trip if you choose the 5 hour version. The train staff were very friendly too.
