Cranmore Mountain Lodge Bed and Breakfast

A great family-friendly stay on the eastern side of the White Mountains! (Dog-friendly, too, for those who travel with canine friends.) Could be described as either a small country inn or a large B&B.

We've stayed here twice with our young children in a suite that gives the 5 of us plenty of space to not feel completely on top of each other. Rates are very reasonable for the area. Location is perfect (we were looking for something very close to Storyland and White Mountains National Forest). I like that it's off the main drag in Conway, away from the traffic. We've only been in summer, but it's also a very easy drive to many of the ski areas (Cranmore Mountain, Attitash/Bear Peak, Bretton Woods, etc.). Just under an hour to Santa's Village, and abut an hour to the other side of the pass to visit Franconia Notch/Cannon Mountain.

The included breakfast is simple, but hearty and exceptionally good. Even when the kitchen is slammed with a full house ordering all at once! There are always several families with young children, and the kids were certainly welcomed with open arms. The grounds are beautiful for strolling. And the pool and hot tub are a welcome respite after a day of hiking in the National Forest.

We haven't had much interaction with the owners/staff, but the few times we did they were all friendly and very helpful with great suggestions for food/activities and a great willingness to do whatever they could for us.

Cosmetically, the Lodge could use some updating (peeling wallpaper, old carpet, outdated decor, etc.), though many would say that adds to the rustic, home-y charm. There certainly were no functional issues and (aside from a very hard mattress in the suite's main bedroom) everything was quite comfortable. And the owners have said that the mattress in the room we were in is next on the list to be replaced. Yay!

Free wifi was nice and zippy, which is an added bonus!

Spent 2 days in early september of 2011. Was looking for a small B&B in the North Conway area and my God I was served! First, room rates are pretty cheap for the area. Rooms may be a bit small but they are very clean and all you need is available (soap, air dryer, small cable tv, A/C, private shower and bathroom, etc). It also have an outside pool and a jacuzy. But the most amazing thing are breakfast. They are generous meal with your choice of eggs, croissant, cereal, coffee, juice, etc. It is not like those american breakfast they serve you in big hotels where you only have toasts, muffins and yogurt. I really enjoyed my stay there and i would recommend it with no hesitation. I will probably be back next year. Thanks for the great hospitality !

We would gladly stay here again! The property and stream with walking trails to the back are gorgeous. The breakfast was outstanding. I also have to say Cranmore Mountain Lodge is extremely family friendly whether your kids are younger or older they have so much to explore and do.

We had a great time and we were very comfortable. The rooms are well kept and the staff was very friendly. The living room was also comfortable with couches and seats. TV, books, WI FI, and games for kids to play with. Oh I have to mention the home style breakfast, it was so good. The French toast was my favorite. We can't wait to visit again.

We had a very spacious and comfortable room in The Loft section. This gave us a nice view of the pond on the property. The owners go out of their way to make guests feel at home. They have a large selection of delicious breakfast items. This is a family run lodge with the owners doing the cooking and their sons working in the breakfast room and helping with the housekeeping. Unfortunately we had some car trouble while we were there, but the owner was very helpful and gave us a lift from the repair center. They lent us a great book to help us find hikes in the area as well as their personal guidance. We stayed for 5 days and hopefully will return to their hospitality again. Merci!

Room Tip: This is a great base for hiking, skiing or just taking advantage of the many amusements in the area.
