Coming from St. Johnsbury we nearly missed the driveway to this hotel which is labelled Hale’s Location on one side and White Mountain Hotel on the other. Follow the signs and you will eventually get to the hotel, an elegant building perched on a mound beneath a rocky promontory. Our room was nicely appointed. We ate dinner in the tavern rather than the restaurant. I had the chicken with apple sauce, mashed potatoes, a slab of cheddar, carrots, beet and asparagus. My wife had the very tender small steak, fries and vegetables. Both meals were extremely good. The evening was made more amusing by the decidedly saucy service by the wait staff. On our second night we again took our meal in the tavern. The place was very busy at the start of the weekend. Perhaps because of this we had to remind servers to bring ordered bread, more water and utensils. Overall I rate this hotel and restaurant highly. It is comfortable, close to outlet stores and has a fun atmosphere in the tavern.

It was a pleasure to read your review and thank you for taking the time to write. I am thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and your dining experience. I do apologize if you experienced a lack of service on your second night in the Tavern, and I can assure you this is not example of our usual exemplary service. We hope to see you again soon. Carol

This is a cozy hotel with great service. There is a fireplace in the lobby and it was lit while we were there. The meals were excellent! We had specials to chose from or the menu. Everyone was still talking about how much food we got at each meal and the deserts were to die for!! Also great views from every direction!

This is not a trendy upscale hotel, but it doesn't claim to be. Its very cozy and comfortable. The main lobby feels like a living room. The check in was very quick. The rooms are decent, nothing fancy. The beds and tv's have been upgraded but everything else is a little dated. The bathrooms are dated but very functional. My only complaint is that they could use a thermostat on the wall, so you don't have to deal with the dated heating / cooling system.

The dining room and the bar both looked really nice and popular!

We left on a sunday morning, I must say the the Sunday brunch looked and smelled amazing !!

The location of the hotel is beautiful, there is a huge rocky mountain behind it and a lovely lake in front of it. The views of the mountains are really pretty.

Some things that you should definately make a point to do is visit Echo Lake and Cathedral Ledge, both minutes from the hotel. The town of North Conway is really cute, Great shops and restaurants. kancamagus highway is close and a lovely drive also.

Whiete Mountain resort sits in the shelter of the Cathedral Ledges and is a little old fashioned but quaint. The rooms were a little dated but still spacious and spotlessly clean. Service was excellent, especially in the restaurant, which is circular and has super views of the surrounding mountains. We stayed for three nights and, if we'd stayed much longer, it would have taken a week to work off the food! The a la carte menu offers great choice and is excellent value for money. Breakfast provided the leisurely start to the day that vacations need; and the cocktails the perfect end.

Room Tip: Higher rooms (third floor) seemed to be quieter.

We spent a long weekend at the a White Mountain Resort for a wedding & exploring the town as a couple. The hotel sits below the Cathedral Ledges and it was a perfect fall weekend. The staff was generally friendly & happy to accommodate requests. Chris, in the bar, made great cocktails! Room service was fast & tasty. The facilities were (below) average - lots of wear, tear & outdated decor. For the price, We'd probably look into other options for any return trips. The Moat Restaurant is a MUST in No. Conway!!!

I appreciate your review and was happy to read that you enjoyed your stay and the services of Christopher at our bar. I will make certain that these comments are shared with his manager. I am sorry that you did not enjoy the decor and want to ensure you that we work diligently to keep the decor fresh and updated. Our new ballroom renovation and new bedding concept with high-thread count sheets, triple sheeting, luxury mattresses and pillows, certainly reflects this commitment. I appreciate your feedback, and do hope that you will give us another chance. Regards, Carol Sullivan

Even though this is an old hotel, they have kept it as up to date as possible and made for very grand lodging. Actually the restaurant is the best part! Fantastic meals served in elegant style. Rooms are adequate, but not too small. However, bathrooms are quite large for this era of hotel. Very nicely appointed. Clean, comfortable, and quiet -- except do NOT get a room near the kitchen. Fans and smell of kitchen intrude into room. Unfortunately the kitchen side is where the best views are, so just get a room further away -- above X20, e.g., 220, 320. Nicely heated pool and Jacuzzi. Large exercise room.

Stayed at this otherwise lovely hotel as part of a tour group. We had the misfortune to be given room 202, which is situated immediately above two large fan vents from the kitchen.
The noise was very intrusive. We phoned the desk to ask about what it was and it was explained that the fans would be turned off round 10pm and on again at 7am, that management was aware of the problem and that they 'were working on it'.
Fans were duly turned off about 10.30pm and on again at 4.50am.
If you stay at this hotel do not accept room 202 unless you are an extremely sound sleeper!

Room Tip: Avoid room 202 and any others near the kitchen vents.
