Redhook continues to expand their own beer lists of on-site brewed beer. Great service, great people, fun place, and more important, great beer.

Ate at Cataqua Pub as it was next door to the hotel. Fairly limited pub menu, dinner special was tasty and filling. Widmer beer was good, called Pitch Black. Prices were fair, what we expected. A popular place, mostly at the bar. Lots of growlers going out the door. Staff was hard working and friendly. Pick up a local map at most hotels and it gets you a free tour.

terrible food and poor service. chicken and waffle was disgusting! Just because redhook brewery is a brew pub they feel they can serve whatever they want for food and get away with it. Don't waste your money!

When we are in Portsmouth we try to stop at the Red Hook. For dinner I had the salmon/pita sandwich which was quite good. They did charge $3 more for sweet potato fries - a bit pricey for the meal. My wife wasn't quite as fortunate and ordered a burger which was lousy. It tasted like a patty that had been frozen and it was heavily seasoned with pepper. They did replace her meal with some chicken but it was too salty for her. On the positive side, service was very good and so were the beers. And the atmosphere is very good too, however, the bar area is pretty cramped with a lot of tables clustered together. We will return on our next trip but I hope that the food improves since we do like this establishment.

It's been quite some time since we've been in the Portsmouth area and stopped for a meal and some very tasty beers at the brewery. We were surprised at how few entrees now are offered on the menu, having focused the kitchen's attention of burgers, sandwiches, and wraps. The price of these lunch-mainly items has increased (but what hasn't) over the past few years. But, unlike other breweries and brew pubs in the area, including those farther north in Portland, sides of fries add another few dollars to the cost of the meal. This brought my wife's Salmon Sandwich to an eye-popping $16, and raised the cost of a 1/3rd pound burger to $13. True, a pint only runs $4.25, a mere $0.25 less than in similar restaurants elsewhere, and Redhook's beer runs a bit higher in alcohol content than several others. I guess this must justify the higher cost of food items in the mind of the management. The bison burger I ordered was without much seasoning, tasting a bit bland (meat is meat is meat), and the volume of tomatoes and lettuce, along with the bun, dwarfed the patty. It ain't what it used to be, and this is a shame.
