“A great place to stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

Looking for a little birthday escape for my husband and me, we found a Groupon for Mountain Edge and decided to check it out. The place is beautiful and the rooms are huge (and very clean!). We loved it immediately. A gorgeous place to visit, everywhere you look are mountains and lakes. We took a nice hike up Porky Blue Trail to the Summit of Mount Sunapee. Be prepared, bring water and wear comfortable shoes. And speaking of shoes, leave your cute shoes at home, ladies. Not a lot of night life here. Through locals' recommendations, we found Salt Hill in downtown Newport, about 15-20 minutes away, a pub/restaurant; Bubba's in downtown Newbury, about 5 minutes away, another pub/restaurant; and One Mile West, which is exactly one mile west of Mountain Edge, where we heard the Chris Fitz band place on Thursday night. They were amazing!! They also had excellent food there. The tavern at the Mountain Edge was beautiful, but very quiet. The staff was incredibly nice but the place was a bit of a ghost town. I guess that's to be expected when visiting a ski resort in the summer! The first night we were there, we ate at the Anchorage, which is at the marina where the Kearsarge docks out of. The lobster rolls there were outstanding. Although we were told to try the dinner cruise on the Kearsarge, we never made it. There was really no "downtown" or shops to walk around in. I was hoping to bring something home for my kids, but in the four days we were there, we found nothing. The reason I give this place four stars instead of five is because the pool was under maintenance while we were there, but this did not ruin our time. The outside Jacuzzi was wonderful and the inside pool was a great place to cool off. Also a great place to cool off was the Sunapee State Beach right off of the traffic circle, where there were plenty of picnic tables, many of them placed in the shade. A great place to bring a blanket and relax. We truly enjoyed our stay in the Sunapee region and hope to return soon. And when we do, we'll stay at the Mountain Edge.

Thank you!!

Room Tip: The suites are huge. Very large fire-placed living room AND a sitting room AND a full kitchen!

Stayed here last weekend on Saturday night and used an expired groupon voucher for the value that i paid for it. Place was legit, lobby smells like delicious pizza, must be from the restaurant, however even when it wasnt opened on sunday morning it still smelled awesome. Great location at the bottom of the driveway to Mount Sunapee, spacious rooms(we had a queen bed in one room, couch in the living room, and another couch in another room, and a kitchen,) sweet hottubs(indoor and outdoor,) a patio off the living room, and a nice clean bathroom. My only problem was that they woke me up at 915 for really no reason, it wasn't the cleaning lady, they said it was guest services and i think they were trying to sell me a timeshare, which is in reality what this place is, a timeshare place. I would go back.

Room Tip: Our 1 BR and den was sweet.

My family stayed in this attractive ski lodge over winter break.
When we first arrive we were "greeted" by a hostess who appeared to be less than interested in helping us. On the other hand, the shuttle service was fabulous and very timely and attentive.
Our room was clean and comfortable but far from luxurious. The cabinets in the poorly equipped kitchenette were falling apart, as was the toilet seat.
The restaurant on site was poorly staffed. We tried to eat there one night but ended up leaving due to very slow service.
Overall we had a good stay and with a few tweaks this could be a great lodge.

Mountain Edge is in a great location near Sunapee and at first gives a nice impression with a welcoming lobby, helpful staff & really big rooms great for families. But the bedding in our room was AWFUL. Unbelievably cheap, should-have-been-burned-back-in-the-80's-when-it-was-already-dated awful, especially the super thin, nylon comforter (not duvet - it can't be washed!) on the master bed.
We travel a lot and I am never bothered by stuff like this but here it really stood out & made for such uncomfortable sleeping.
It's a shame, because aside from the inconsistencies this place would be great.

The hotel couldn't have been cleaner. The room was exceptionally large and comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen with flatware, pots, pans and everything else. Climate control was PERFECT, (this can be hit or miss in the hotel business). Hot tub, sauna, massages, gym facilities, it doesn't get better. All 5 minutes from skiing. The owner himself tended to our every need. A return trip is definately on schedule.
Due to midweek, late ski season, the restaraunt had limited hours. Contact the hotel directly for more info.

Room Tip: The room was perfect.

We stayed here for 2 nights using our livingsocial.com voucher. It was absolutely perfect and spotless, from the rooms to the common areas. Den suite was great for our small family, nice to have a separate bdrm, living area, and kitchen rather than just a hotel room. There is a great pool and indoor / outdoor hot tubs. The spa was awesome too! The location is 2min from Sunapee and they provide shuttle service. All the staff that we had interactions with were extremely friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend Mountain Edge and hope to stay there again!

The hotel is minutes from the skiing, with a very efficient shuttle service that picks up from the hotel and drops off at the ski lodge. Our driver, for the 3 days we were there, was great and very helpful loading a family of 5 !
The rooms in the hotel are ideal for families, with different layouts depending in the number of people in your group. They are spacious and have a useful kitchenette. There is a good pool with an in door an out door hot tub. We used this every day after skiing and the children had a lot of fun playing with other children.
There are a number of restaurants within a few miles or even one that's walkable from the hotel, which provide 'family friendly' menus but also good for the parents. The tavern in the hotel is also a good option.
The hotel staff were very helpful, especially when my son left his 'monkey' in the room when we left. They mailed him back with a lovely letter that made him very happy.
The hotel is more expensive than some of the other options in the area, but the convenience and room functionality makes it worth while
