“Beautiful Historical Site”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

This was the summer home of John Hay. It has been beautifully restored and kept. The gardens have been lovingly restored to their original design. Also, good walking trails through meadows and forest.

“Wonderful place full of gardens, history and fairies”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

The Fells is a "hidden gem" in the Sunapee area. Children love the long sweeping driveway with interesting sculptures along the way. The gardens encircling the main house are fantastic and the history of the Hay family given while taking a tour of the house is very interesting. The original builder and owner was John Hay, President Lincoln's personal secretary. Last summer there was a fantastic area in the woods for children to build fairy houses. My kids absolutely loved it and are praying it returns this coming summer. Take a picnic and spend the day enjoying the nature trails, the house tour and the views of the lake.

“Spectacular Gardens at Historical Estate”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

This was the John Hay Estate in the early part of the 20th century. Now there are tours of the house, lakefront hiking trails, and spectacular gardens. It is an excellent stop for children and adults alike.
