This is a special place. Fixed price, set menu, set seating time in a beautiful location. Alcohol is not included, and I recommend arriving well before the seating time to have a cocktail. The chef gathers everyone together before the meal to describe what he has planned. Be aware that your options are limited to what is planned - call ahead if you are a picky eater or have dietary limitations. Every morsel of food was put together purposefully - from a bit of bread with a spread to the dessert, everything is thought through. Lovely meal.

For small-town NH -this place is really cool. You arrive at the Inn, and its like you are at a large cocktail party with a private bar. Its an old building so it feels very much like an old New England lake house - which is what it is. Cocktails began around 6 and I think dinner starts around 7. Before the dinner, Chef Brian will come out and explain to you the dinner, the preparations and his staff will ask you for your entrée selections. Important Tip - if you can't decide between the options - you can get a combination of both, or he always has some extra if you want to try some, just ask for a sample. If you have ever done a tasting menu, where the server explains every item as it comes - and find that annoying because it interrupts your conversations - then this is the setup for you! Brian explains everything before the meal - and then comes over after the meal to see how you liked everything. Usually there is a meat and fish option, and he'll likely take special requests if you let him know when making your reservations! Always a nice treat. 2nd important tip - if you will be driving - be careful because its easy to enjoy wine or drinks with a great meal - be sure to drive carefully, designate someone to be responsible to drive you home, or plan a stay at the Inn! (although we have not stayed there, it looks amazing).

This is not just going out to dinner, this is going out for the experience. Your evening starts with owner/chef Brian greeting you in the sitting room while he preps you for dinner by detailing the menu and all it's ingredients as well as insights into the sauces that enhance the flavors. Then you move into the dining room to taste the fruit of Brian's labors. Our meal started with an amuse bouche of chicken salad on crostini, to be followed by a mushroom soup that was so delicious - a mixture of mushrooms, but not one overdid the flavor of another - topped with chive oil and crispy onions. Onto the salad - sourced from a local farm and enhanced with edible flowers, cheddar cheese and pistachios - the dressing so delicate it allowed the other flavors to shine through. An interlude of palate cleanser and then onto the main course p a choice of rack of lamb or U10 scallops, again the source allowing th delicate flavor of the protein to shine through. And then dessert comes to the table - a cheesecake baked like a soufflé - so light, but with the dense richness of chocolate on the side. Not enough for you. A final plate of hand made chocolates accompany your coffee/after dinner drink. Plus Brian going from table to table to thank you for coming and to give you all the details you need to try to recreate theme menu at home. I come here every year when I visit the area- wouldn't miss it and never walk away disappointed.
