We stayed at the Wentworth will visiting Portsmouth for one nigh. Since we travel often, I am very picky about hotel rooms. The room was beautiful and hotel service outstanding. We plan to return very soon.

I have been fortunate enough to have been able to stay at the Wentworth many times over the years for both business and personal travel, the last time in August. This is a refurbished older hotel that has wonderful updates. The ocean view rooms are my favorite, and it's a short walk (15 min) to the town beach, with a picnic area and views of lighthouses. Great food at the restaurant, a bit pricey though but quality is very good. My daughter loves their pool. I held a conference there once for about 50 people and it went without a hitch due to the staff's attentiveness. A little more off the beaten path since it is away from coastal route 1, a blessing in the summer. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I have been going to Wentworth twice a year for the past few years and have always loved it. We went in December for our anniversary and were extremely disappointed. The food and service for both dinner and breakfast was below average, the hotel service was below average, our room had issues that were never addressed and to top it off there was a room service charge made to our room that wasn't ours. The front desk made me wait 30 minutes while they tried to find it, which they never did. I received a call that night saying it was "their mistake" but I had to call the hotel twice over the next week to have the charge taken off my credit card. We have always loved Wentworth, but this experience will make us think about going elsewhere next summer.

This was our fourth time at Wentworth By The Sea and it will be our last. It's such a shame because this was one of our favorite hotels to come to for our anniversary. We made reservations at the new Salt restaurant which we were really excited about because we heard such great reviews. The service in the restaurant was horrible, didn't come over to us once to see how our meal was and the food was just alright, not worth the money at all. Once we got back to the room we decided to watch a movie in bed, little did we know there was a function down in the grand ballroom that night and our adjourning door in the bedroom led right to the ballroom so we could hear everything!! We went down to the desk to ask how long it was going on, they said 11 but offered us a different room which was fine. The man at the front desk was very nice and helpful. We got a room across the hall which was quiet and great until the music started.....we could hear every song clearly being played. We didn't want to switch rooms again so we figured we would just deal with it. On top of the music playing until 11, our heater must have been broken because every time it hit 70 it would make a horrible noise that would wake me out of a dead sleep. When we were checking out they didn't even ask us how our stay was, I gave them a heads up about the heat but figured it wasn't worth telling them about the function music. Overall we were very disappointed in our night away and will not be returning based on this.

Room Tip: Not near the grand ballroom

We spent a night here between Christmas and New Years with our children. We've stayed here in the past and always come back due to the attentive and helpful staff, beautiful hotel and proximity to downtown Portsmouth.

We had appetizers in 'Salt', the hotel restaurant, also ate there for breakfast. Both meals were terrific and I would highly recommend the breakfast buffet for families as it has something for everyone.

We are Marriott Gold members and were upgraded to a nice sized room on the fourth floor overlooking the ocean.

We'll definitely be back again as we always enjoy our time at this hotel.
There is an indoor pool and hot tub as well as a decent sized exercise room.
