This hotel is the epitome of comfortable, eclectic, historic vacationing. Easily accessible from anywhere you live, it is absolutely a must-see. Gorgeous grounds with access to beautiful water views at several different levels, depending on what you like, the rooms are amazingly luxurious, and comfortable, although the cooling/heating system is a bit noisy for a liht sleeper .....all night long . I suppose that has to be expected in a historic landmark, but it did put a damper on things. Twoabsolutely amazing restraunts, with the more formal of the two, called the Wentworth, being one of the finest I've experience. Perfectly diverse, interesting menu, with everything being prepared in absolutely breathtaking fashion. Perfect customer service with professional, knowledgable, keen servers. The decor is breathtakingly beautiful with a perfect view of a beautiful suset if you time it correctly. Don't pass up this gem of a getaway spot !

I satyed here for a weekend with my wife at the beginning of August. The property is amazing, and is situated with fantastic views, no matter which side you are on. Service at check-in was prompt and professional, and the room, although somewhat on the small side, was clean and nicely decorated, and had an amazing view of the river. The hotel is situated perfectly if you want to travel to the beach, or go for a night out in Portsmouth. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to take advandage of most of the hotel's facilities, but the pool areas looked especially inviting. We did eat in the hotel bar one night. The clam chowder was very good, and the atmosphere was casual, but still retained the feeling of a grand hotel. Our server was amazing. I would definitely return here.

They have the most amazing, attentive staff. The service is impeccable.
I just got married here, and the wedding was everything I could've asked for! They took my ideas and ran with it. My guests told me they had the most amazing time and it was one of the best weddings they've been too. I would highly highly recommend getting married at Wentworth by the Sea!

I took my wife here this weekend for a quick getaway prior to the arrival of baby #2. It was everything we had hoped it would be - I strongly recommend it. It's a great combination of a resot-like vibe within minutes of a relatively-busy city. We'll be back.

LOCATION - 1 hr 35 mins from Boston (in Friday traffic); only 5-6 minutes from downtown Portsmouth, so it is close enough for a quick drive, but far enough removed to give you that resort feeling when you're there; no shuttle into Portsmouth though, which would have been nice (so someone didn't have to drive home)

ROOM - very nicely appointed; a bit small, but high-quality sheets and bedding, views and bathroom (including a heated marble floor!) more than make-up for size

SERVICE - nothing truly extraordinary here, but nothing negative either

SERVICES - got massages at the spa which were great; nice spa facilities; gorgeous outdoor pool with drink and food service to the chairs (got a little crowded right after lunch on Saturday - presumably from the influx of wedding guests - get there before then); very attentive bellhops

FOOD - didn't eat in the ballroom/dining room, though it looked like the place to be for brunch; had lunch at Lattitudes (restuarant by the pool) - pretty good food, but more importantly, perfectly-made Dark n' Stormy; tasty - and reasonably-priced - room service breakfast

Room Tip: Ask for a harborview

We stayed here for a week's family vacation - it was heaven. Gorgeous historical hotel rennovated beautifully. Great rooms with fantastic views. Great pool with water views. Latitudes Restaurant is very good -try the gazpacho. We found the Wentworth Dining Room was beautiful but disappointing fare for the price. Best local meal was the lobster @ BG's Boathouse down the street. Concierge lounge was too small & breakfast offering meager but the concierges were helpful. Not much to do but relax and refresh - the week we were there it was 85 but 100 at home in PA. Town of Portsmouth lovely.

I received a senior citizen rate of 254.15 for a standard room at this hotel. We requested a king size bed and an ocean view. Upon our arrival I asked if they had the ocean view room. I was told they had booked another room for us but they would see what they could do. We were told if we would deal with double beds we would get a room with an inner harbor view and our own balcony. We were delighted to hear what we were getting and quickly acceptable. Before going to the room we went to downtown Portsmouth. Arriving later to the room we discovered the balconcy was acutually an 18" space out side the window. To see any view of the harbor we had to stretch to get a peek. Beyond that the room actually had a view of the pointed roof avove the pool so we really couldn't see much at all. Very disappointed as we have used Marriott frequently in the past. We may very well change our travel plans in the future due to the attitude of the person at the desk in the morning, which was what did you expect for the discounted senior rate? Not stated, but expressed nevertheless. Not a good night for $324.59 including room service.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. It was very relaxing for us and it was nice to see this piece of history renovated. Portsmouth was right there to shop and eat and the staff was friendly. Will stay again when in the area.
