On a road trip in New England, we booked this Marriott property because we frequent the brand and the staff in thier hotels all around the world never disappoint -- and they didn't here either. If you're familiar with the movie "Somehwere in Time" you'll have a real sense of the old-world charm of this aging property. But...try to book a Marina Suite if you can. Housed in a separate building right on the marina, these are huge apartment-like suites. However, the best ones require a trek down a significant number of stairs outside -- and bringing the suitcases up the stairs in the rain wasn't exactly fun, but it was worth it.

The suite was enormous -- much larger than we needed, but we loved the huge marble bathroom with shower and jacuzzi (the suite had three bathrooms all together and there were only two of us), and the living room with gas fireplace on this cool autumn evening.

We ate in their wonderful main dining room where the staff was charming and attentive and the food surprisingly terrific. The public areas, including the bar, are actually quite small and we did wonder what it would be like there during high season.

A word of caution in getting there: our GPS took us on what would have been the most direct route, only to find that the State Street bridge is actually out. According to the staff, this is a long-term project. You'll have to follow the detour if you approach it from that direction. We did ask them to post this information on their web site and the young woman thought this was a great idea and would take it to the manager.

Stayed here one night in late Sept. Location and grounds were disappointing, not much of a resort atmosphere. Room was clean but a little overpriced. As with most older hotels you hear everything so you dont get a sound nights sleep. Not a bad stay, just not worth the money.

For a location that's remote enough it feels like an escape but close enough it's near major roadways and other attractions, Wentworth by the Sea is a very good fit. The location is pristine yet rural, overlooking vast areas of grass. Amenities include golf, tennis, full spa services, in-house restaurant and much more. Rooms are definitely pricey, but you get what you pay for too.

My wife and I love getting away whenever possible and "The Wentworth" is always tops on our list for a romantic night. We love the bar for drinks & music and great bar noshes. The pool is nestled in with wonderful views and near the ocean. We can always count on great service and cant wait for our next visit.

My wife and I just spent 10 days at Wentworth by the Sea and I have to tell you that the only thing better than the great views of the bay was the friendly and helpful staff that greeted us on arrival.

C.J., Katie and Kate were all wonderful to talk to and as courteous and helpful as any staff you could hope for.

Carol in the Concierge suite was a entertaining and helpful hostess.

We were given an upgrade to a Marina Suite with a large kitchen to cook lobsters in every other night and a fantastic balcony with a breath taking view of the marina and bay. With the leaves changing and the sun shinning on the water you could n ot ask for a nicer place to relax, rejuvinate and appreciate the simpler things in life.

My wife and I used this as a base as we saw almost all of the New England we could take in in 10 days. We traveled to Saratoga Springs NY, The Green Moutains of Vermont the Berkshires of Mass and the White mountains of New Hampshire. We antiqued shopped our way thru 5 states and more cities than I can recall, but when we came back to Wentworth, it was like coming back to heaven.

We will go back and we look forward to the great brunch on Sunday, romantic dinners in the fine dinning room, spa treatments for the wife and stem room and jacuzzi time for me. There was little of the hotel we did not use fduring our stay and the entire time we pleased with the warmth and hospitality of the Staff we encountered.

Room Tip: Get a Marina Suite upgrade if possible, the rooms have fantastic views, fireplaces and great balconi...

I have stayed in 5 star hotels from Prague to the Waldorf in New York and this is what a true 5 star is. From the front desk to the restaurant staffs, from the room to the gardens, from the lobster roll at Latitudes to the breakfast buffet-wow! The grandeur of the past and of service only remembered is still at Wentworth. You can feel history here. This is the Grand Hotel on Mackinac island of the East-don't miss it. It is worth the extra dollars-believe me!

We have been to Wentworth 4 times already and love everthing about it... The staff, food, rooms, day spa, and the surrounding area, is just beautiful. Don't let the name Marriott fool you. Although Marriotts are nice, this is one is unique for a Marriott. It has a- not a chain business- feel to it. Maybe because it's got so much history in it's wall it somehow permeates into the hotel. A must visit, worth the money kind of place... see ya' at wentworth...
