My family and I have been vacationing at the lake for over 20 years, and we make sure to stop at the Village Kitchen at least once while we're up here. The chicken croquettes (the only thing I've ever ordered myself) are delicious every time: hot, crispy, and covered in gravy. Though the quality of the mashed potatoes seems to have gone down over the years, the croquettes, onion rings, and fried clams continue to be perfect every time.
The best part about Village Kitchen by far, is the atmosphere. The place hasn't changed in decades and looks like anyone's grandma's house, complete with the mild sexism of your great-aunt: men and boys get two rolls, women and girls get one. Definitely worth a trip, and I hope it's around for many more decades to come.
