“Great place to spend an evening with friends!”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

This restaurant has very good food, great variety, numerous wines selections, excellent service with a rustic and beautiful atmosphere of a Swiss/German/Austrian theme. You will not be sorry that you tried this place, it is truly a very customer friendly staff. They make you feel at home! The ownership has changed hands in the past but the food, service and condition of this old barn hasn't lost it's magic touch. It is still a wonderful place to spend time with friends and enjoy a delightful meal.

“Great European restaurant”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

This is a great restaurant and has been in Milford for a long time. The original owners really made a name for the restaurant. It has changed owners a few times in the last 20 years. The food is really good, German/Austrian/Swiss theme. Service is great. You cannot beat the value since the price of the meal includes a full 4 course dinner - appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert (assuming you can eat it all). They have a nice fireplace that is in use during the winter months. One of the top restaurants in Milford. Great for a nice meal out.

“Reliably good dining experience”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

Over the many years I have eaten at the Mile Away, it has ALWAYS been wonderful. The food is perfect, the atmosphere charming (it's in a refurbished barn), and the price is right. There is a leaning towards Swiss/Austrian food, but there is always a good variety from which to choose. The price for each meal includes appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert.

“It's all about the atmosphere”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

The Mile Away, being situated in a historic colonial building, is, in general very charming, quaint...........but if you look around the ceiling lines, what is the point of the "decorative" tube lights from the 1990s, with burnt out sections - they detract hugely, in my opinion, from the whole point of the place which I thought was an escape from today into colonial yesteryear, right? The tube lights must go. And the food, sorry, but it is just ok - very traditional, which is fine, but also, the preparations themselves are very dated. Updated tradition would be nice.......prime rib that isn't so fatty would be nice, too. The style of the menu is where all sorts of sides are included, old time supper club style, thereby, based upon what I tasted, having the kitchen focus on volume rather than quality. The desserts were less than average - the ice cream tasted like food service ice cream and the apple strudel was very disappointing - we were hard pressed to find any apples, the crust was cold, not good. The other desserts were doleful, no imagination. I really don't want to say more, as I know that the locals really love this place.

“Off the beaten path but worth a visit.”
Reviewed June 27, 2012 via mobile

A favorite in an out-of-the-way location. Good food for a moderate charge. Most entrees include an app and desert. The decor is very simple so don't be surprised by the country simplicity, after all you are looking for a good meal not an over priced exaggeration. Try it, I believe you will enjoy your meal.
