Forget the major chains! Real, authentic Mexican food can be found at independent restaurants that are just as good or better. El Tapatio offers a fun dining experience that features great Mexican food and very reasonable prices. Serving sizes are modest so you won’t have a problem finishing your meal. Be sure to take advantage of the homemade guacamole that is made fresh right at your table. Along with the wonderful food, a friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere makes this a great dining experience.

we returned to enjoy the good service& GREAT food, hoping to not be disappointed....We were not disappointed, service ( a different waiter)was still excellent & the food was ,if possible, even better!
he had the the same taco salad ; crispytortilla shell, right down the bottom , unlike a noisier pricier place where the bottom was unpleasantly soggy.I tied LUNCH SPECIAL #1: CHILI RELLENO SMOTHRERED IN A GREEN SAUCE(tomatillo?) served w/ a crispy beef taco, guocomole salad7 Mexican rice& beans. Again,I was allowed to have their terrific black beans instead of the fried beans
The complimentary order of warm unsalted chips w/ a bottle of salsa, was a bit spicier but not at all unpleasant. My hot tea was served w/ both a lime lime & a lemon slice giving a nice flavor to the black tea.
His diet cola cost less than most local places & a refill was offered. There are over 12 lunch es from which to choose, all u7nder $9 most include rice& beans generously fill the large hot platter. They ran out of their wonderful flan( baked custard but the churros( fried dough served w/ rich creamy ice cream, honey& chocolate sauce, cost less & was adequate for 2. to share.
FREEPARKING, pleasant, efficient service, GREAT authentic fod@ moderate prices what more could you want? They now have a full bar if that is your preference, so stop in & enjoy the experience .

El Tapatio is one of the better Mexican Restaurants in the area. Great food, great drinks, friendly service. Seating is plentiful. Only complaint I have is the music in the bar is way too loud. Its a nice dining establishment. Good for families and date nights, and if you wanna sit at the bar go ahead. But blasting latin dance music out of the speakers where there is no dancing room and you're trying to talk over your dinner or watch whatever game is on is completely unnecessary.

Regardless, its well worth the trip.

This place is outstanding! The food is authentic and a great spot for small town New Hampshire. Prices are reasonable and portions are quite large.

I was in recently and discovered they had expanded. Excited the place is doing well. Merrimack needs more great little hot spots like this one for good dining.
