The high reviews that this restaurant has received are well earned. Although I gave this 4 stars I considered higher. The chile relleno was outstanding, as the flavors were amazing. The lunch meal came with a taco as well and great refried beans. We left full with a small tab. I look forward to being in this area again so that we can return.

By far THE best Mexican food AND service in NH & MA. Friendly, courteous and helpful. This is a beautiful and spotless restaurant. Our party of 3 had crabmeat enchiladas, mole pablano, and the combo plate. The quality and flavors were delicious. The rice was tender and flavorful. The refried beans had a slight flavor that was yummy (couldnt place the spice). Margarita, beer, ice tea all excellent. Our 3 generously portioned meals and drinks totaled $50. The chips before our meal were warm and crisp with red salsa. The chips kept coming and coming without our asking. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant now and we will go again and again located on 101A. Loved it all around.

A few years ago an acquaintance told us about El Tapatio. We have had lunch there many times and have never been disappointed. Recently the restaurant expanded the space, moving the bar into a new area and adding seating to the dining room. The atmosphere is a bit lighter and brighter than the old setup.

The salsa you get with the chips as appetizer is filled with cilantro and cumin, and varies in hotness from visit to visit. The chef can vary the entrees to accommodate, say, a dairy allergy (no cheese) or an allergic reaction to tomatoes (salsa verde, much spicier, is available). So recently when we each placed our orders for Lunch Special #9, which is a tamale, burrito, and rice, my companion got the salsa verde with cheese topping and mine came, as ordered, with the normal tomato sauce and no cheese. Both were piping hot and tasty. We both ordered chicken burritos; the chicken was tender and chunky, not ground up. As usual, we had no room for dessert, so we cannot pass judgment on their selections. A lunch for two costs about $22, with soft drinks and tip.

We have tried other entrees on their menu. All are excellent. Their Churri Pollo is well worth a trip. El Tapatio offers takeout orders as well.

The restaurant tables are clean and the restrooms are, too. One small problem we have noticed is that their tile floor sometimes can be a bit slippery when you walk in, so watch your step!

We are most fortunate to have several great Mexican restaurants in our area--we rate El Tapatio on the same high level with Mi Jalisco in Milford and La Carreta in Nashua and Manchester.

This restaurant is tucked into a corner space in the little strip mall. You have to look for it, we never knew it was there, it was recommended by a salesman at Lowe's where we were shopping previously. It is nice inside, but a bit on dark side. The waiter was very prompt, took our orders. He was knowledegeable but a bit hard to understand because of his accent. He was very pleasant. The salsa and chips were excellant, salsa hot but not too. The drinks were good. The food came out piping hot, and was tasty. However, the sauce on the burrito was overpowering flavor wise, so I couldn't really comment on the fillings of the burritos. The tacos were good, but could have had more in them. Overall, not the best Mexican I've ever had, but I would go back when in area as Mexican food is not readily available in this area.

Although it looks like anything but a promising site for a good Mexican restaurant, it is. Tucked in a small plaza off busy 101A, it has a convenient, if not scenic, location. The food is solid Mexican fare (from someone who's lived in the Southwest and has eaten and made Mexican food for years). The menu offerings are pretty standard fare, but all are solidly prepared. We've eaten there half a dozen times, and have never been disappointed with any of the dishes we've ordered. It's gotten a lot busier lately, and that speaks to its success. There was a definite need for a good Mexican restaurant in this area.
