“Very good family restaurant”
Reviewed August 12, 2014

This is a chain but it did not taste like one! Good food, crackers and dip, cheddar cheese free for all, homemade breads(warm) and hunks of white chocolate accompany every meal. Beer tapes were not working when we were there so they were out of a lot of their beers. The winning dish of the night was the seafood casserole!

Great find, right around the street from Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Merrimack. Generous portions, offering small buffet salad before your meal.

“EXCELLENT RESTAURANT”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

The Common Man is no common restaurant. Good cheese snack bar to start, and the meals are very well presented, plentiful and very tasty. We went back a second time the restaurant impressed us that much, and had the things we wanted to try the first night we were there.

“Diasapointing”
Reviewed July 27, 2014 via mobile

Based on positive reviews of The Common Man, we ate here on a Sunday evening. I had ordered escargots for the appetizer and crab cakes as an entree. Both were inedible. The escargots were served with little bits of puff pastry on top and little chunks of baguette on the side that looked like they had been cut up to serve to birds. I don't know what their "twist" was, but in terms of taste and presentation, it was just unappetizing. This is the first time in my life I was not able to eat escargots. The crab cakes tasted like a tuna can would smell if it was left out in the sun. Sending either plates back would have been useless. There was nothing to be done. I was a little surprised that since I had not eaten very much of either, the wait staff did not ask if there was a problem. My husband had the pot roast that had both burnt and scorched edges and tasted like it had been sitting around for who knows how long. It was edible, but chewy, with little to no gravy. The mashed potatoes were fine. Service was pleasant but it did not make up for the meal. The little bits of white chocolate dumped on the paper tablecloth at the end of the meal was just tacky, as was the bill presented between the pages of a 3" antique hard cover book The decor is tired and could use a makeover.
