Meredith's glory is its lake. So a lakeside view from our bed across our verandah was a joy. Bay Point sits at the edge of the lake so its lake view rooms, with window boxes overflowing with petunias across the whole of the back of the hotel are a strength.
We had a good stay here in a large room equipped with a sofa and wing chair as well as a fridge, coffee maker and the expected accessories. Promised wi-fi would only work in the corridor outside our second floor room. But our experience might have been different. We had to wait on arrival since one of the plastic keys to our room had gone missing. The receptionist tried to organise another but in the end moved us to a different room. On our way up, we noted the room that we might have had was next to the lift and the drinks and ice making machines which we have found notoriously noisy in the past. While the hotel does sit across the end of the lake, it also borders the main road through the town which is busy even at night. This might disturb some folk.
Bay Point is one of four hotels run by the same organisation at Meredith. So, while it lacks a swimming pool and a spa, those facilities in a sister hotel are available to Bay Point residents. It took us about 10 minutes to walk beside the water to the other establishment. Each of the hotels has its own restaurant and each is differently themed. Residents at one can charge the bills of any of these restaurants to their room. So on our first night we choose a pizzeria-style eatery across the main road but stayed in our own hotel's Italian restaurant for the second meal. There are other dining facilities available in town but by the time we arrived at the start of October several of these had closed for the season.
This is a good centre to explore the lakes area around Meredith. We went to look at Squam Lake area where "On Golden Pond" was filmed. A visit to the town of Laconia, between Lake Winnepesaukee and Winnisquam Lake, was largely disappointing.
This was the last hotel on a three-week trip to New England and we drove from here to Boston to fly home to Britain. It was pleasing, therefore, to find that the hotel offered a computer attached to a printer which allowed us to complete on-line check-in and print our boarding passes saving a wait at the check-in machines at the airport.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms beside the ice machines. If traffic noise bothers you get a room away from main road through town.

Nice room with views over Lake Winnepesaukee. On-site restaurant was full, so we had to go elsewhere for dinner. However, we found that the owners of the hotel also owned most of the other hotels and restaurants in Meredith; a bit of a “company town”. This detracted somewhat from the excellent location and the good hotel room.

I recently stayed here Labor Day weekend, and it was a fantastic time! The building is quaint and pretty...perfect for the location. When you walk into the room, you immediately see the beautiful view of the lake. The balcony was a nice touch as well. Rooms were well kept, and the staff was great! I felt that the cost was a little high for what you get, but I think that's due to the Mill Falls resort area. I love the area and hope to visit again soon!

What a terrific location on Lake Winnipesaukee! The views can't be beat and enjoying them from the balcony in our room is what we look forward too. This year we were disappointed and unable to do that. Ants were everywhere! All over the railing, windows, outer door, screen door and even dropping from overhead! We called maintenance, who brought ant spray, but it honestly did nothing. Not good. Our other issue was the Internet - just TERRIBLE. My husband had to do some work on Friday and had to take his laptop to the Dunkin Donuts down the street - crazy! For the $300 per night price tag, the Internet definitely needs upgrading.

We always enjoy Lago, for dinner, and the staff is always wonderful. Please fix the few issues you have and this will be top notch at the lake!

Sandwiched between a busy highway and a spectacular lake, Bay Point is a pretty neat inn. It boasts gorgeous views of the lake from most if not all rooms. Book early for peak seasons, because it is immensely popular with travelers. I called them in January and they were almost fully booked for my intended timeline in August. The personnel of the inn was very nice from that first phone call all the way to the last day when they were quite graceful in handling our 1-year old breaking some glass surface (sorry!!!).

While market is clearly willing to bear Bay Point rates (and possibly even more!), I found the value to be underwhelming. They don't have breakfast on premises which meant we had to stand in a long line in one of nearby breakfast places. The beach located on a sister property is tiny and not very good. Bring your water shoes: with so many stones you would not enjoy entering the lake barefoot. The pool is also on sister property. The internet connection on the 4th floor was weak. And when the time came to check out, we could not find the cart for luggage anywhere.

Based on my past travels, I felt Bay Point pricing is comparable to what you would see on Long Island. However, if you are willing to drive to upstate New York (think Finger Lakes, Lake Placid or Lake George), your vacation dollar will stretch a lot longer.
