Had the opportunity to have a really good meal, to celebrate a birthday. Began the meal with a well prepared tomato, arugella, and mozzarella salad, and continued on with nothing short of fabulous steaks which were extremely well prepared, as ordered. The steaks can only be described as mouth-watering. The steaks being referred to are the fillet, and the sirloin strip. The desserts were also delicious. The service was excellent, and our server, David, could not have been more courteous, friendly, or attentive. My friends visiting Manchester, have been advised to enjoy their special occasions at The Hanover Street Chophouse, and to ask for David as their server. A comfortable atmosphere, and great food. What more is there to say?

We took two friend here to celebrate their recent birthdays and loved it. Had great service (thanks, Agatha) and exceptional quality food. I had the duo of sirloin and filet - both were exceptional while my husband had the filet with poached lobster in butter. Finished with a great dessert and candles for them to blow out. Can't wait to go back!

After hearing much fanfare, including a Best of NH 2011 award, it was time to try the Chophouse. The mark of a top restaurant is consistent quality, even mid-week, and tonight unfortunately did not meet muster. The service is courteous and knowledgable but unfortunately quite slow at times. (It doesn't take an entire meal being eaten to not refill water once or wait eight minutes after the meal is done before seeing the server again.) But on to the food. The appetizer menu is surprisingly unimaginative, so it was opted to only order the house special of the evening, the 24 oz. Porterhouse. While the meat was of excellent quality and preparation, it was plated too soon (for medium rare) placing the plate in a swamp of jus within just a few cuts. But it's the sides where this $54 single plate simply fails. Mashed potatoes that literally taste like powdered potatoes with sour cream (quite the feat), summer vegetables that wilt off the fork (so overcooked), and seasoning on both vegetables and potatoes that was basically non-existent, including the featured native Chanterelles. No essence of herbs, garlic: nothing. It was really imbalanced. And for laying $100 on the table for two drinks, the main special and tip, more is expected. The atmosphere is conducive to a special evening, I can only assume they had an off night, or need to revisit their side prep, quickly. Dessert was ordered and ran out of the selection by the time the order was placed in the kitchen, which just added to the off feeling of this first experience in one of Manchester's "top" locales.

We have had a fabulous dining experience every time that we dine at the Hanover Street Chophouse. From the very best food to the finest service not a restaurant in Manchester can surpass the quality that everyone receives at Hanover Street a Chophouse. Two great waiters, Richard and Patrick, consistently provide the very best in service that makes our dining such a pleasure. Special event or weekly experience - try it you will really enjoy it.

My husband and I had our 15th wedding anniversary dinner at the Hanover Street Chop House. I made the reservations on OpenTable.com and noted on the reservation form that this was an anniversary dinner. We arrived to valet parking and greeted by a friendly hostess who greeted me by name and wished us a happy anniversary. Our server was Geoff who provided excellent service. He was the perfect balance of professional and friendly and was very knowledgeable. He immediately greeted us, fulfilled our drink order and brought a bread medley to the table. I had the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer and they were perfection, filet mignonette with truffle butter for entree, and a specialty brownie sundae for dessert. As a special treat, the waiter brought over two complementary poached figs. All was excellent. My husband enjoyed his meal as much as I did. The atmosphere was romantic and upscale. The chef even drizzled the words 'Happy' and 'Anniversary' on our dessert plates with chocolate. From beginning to end this was a great experience. It was costly, but the extra touches made it worth the cost. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or romantic date night.
