This restaurant was recommended by a co-worker while we were in town visiting. The atmosphere was nice and the service was great even though they were very busy on a Friday night. Parking was adequate and we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. The menu is extensive with many combinations to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious. Overall, a very positive experience that we would recommend to others.

There were 3 adult and four children in our party. Two members of our party have severe food allergies. When my sister ordered her meal she explained that she had a beef and a tomato allergy. The server explained that all the meats were cooked in Salsa (thus tomato). She explained that they could make her chicken chimichanga with grilled chicken which is not cooked in tomato. She also explained that there would be a $1 up charge on the grilled chicken. Also because of her allergy there would be no Guacamole and no red sauce on her meal.

Once the food came out my sister did ask for some extra sour cream as there was no sauce on the chimichanga so it was a bit dry. They eventually (almost 10 minutes later) brought her her sour cream...of course at an additional charge. All of the food we were served was quite delicious even with the dry chimichangas. The big problems started when we received the bill. Not only was there a $2 up charge on the chicken for the chimichanga after we were told $1 but she was also charges $1 for the sour cream. While we understand an up charge on sour cream there was no Guac or red sauce on her meal so right there you are already making money on her meal. You did not take money off for the items she wasn't receiving you charged her for the sour cream and $2 instead of the $1 the server told us on the chicken. Also her chicken was chunks of chicken not shredded like my chicken chimichanga.

Once we looked over the bill we asked to speak to a manager. Up until asking for a manager the service was terrific. When we explained our concerns over the bill with the Manager she got very argumentative. We explained that the server told us there would be an up charge of $1 but we were charged $2 and that we were charged $1 for the sour cream after the meal came out with no sauce or Guac. The manager said “well the server made a mistake” and continued to argue with my sister over the $1 up charge. The manager did say she would take the sour cream off…we are talking a total of $2 we felt should be removed from the bill which totaled almost $100 dollars. Once the manager left the table she and the server began to complain about our party in Spanish with in earshot of our table. Its one thing to speak ill about customers out of the dining room but to speak ill of them with in ear shot and not knowing that 2 members of our party speak and/or understand Spanish.

We eat out a lot and have never had up charges to accommodate food allergies. The manager was rude and very condescending. When our server returned to the table with the new bill minus the sour cream she was also very rude to us, she had been very nice and polite prior to this. We have always loved La Carreta and have frequented your North Manchester Location many times unfortunately after this experience we do not think we will visit any of your locations in the future.

Having been stationed in South Texas while in the Air Force, I developed a fondness for really good Mexican food. With this one exception (thank God!), you can't find it in NH. La Carreta brings me back to my younger days in Texas. The warmth of the decor, the wait-staff, and the atmosphere all contribute to a truly authentic dining experience. Anything you order will be tasty, but you MUST try the Arroz Con Marisco-a delectable combination of shrimp, scallops, yellow rice, and various sides including guacamole. The pricing is more than fair for what you get.

We have been to this Mexican restaurant a couple of times as it is close to the Mall of New Hampshire and the LL Bean Outlet. The few times we've been here have stuck in our minds as being very good. The food is about as authentic as you will find in New England. We look for good burrito verde whenever we find a new Mexican restaurant and this place doesn't disappoint. My only complaint this last time was the amount of fat around the pork. They could have trimmed it a little more and left a little less salt out. That being said, the meat was very tender and flavorful. They have done a wonderful job decorating the restaurant and it seems very clean. The kids love the colorful decor as well and staff have always been exceptionally nice to our children. Since nothing in our home state of Vermont even comes close to this place, we always look forward to eating here.

if you want authentic mexican food this is definitely the place. and it is relatively inexpensive and the service is very good ...most of the wait staff are mexican or south american and are quite knowledgeable re: the menu.
single items (tacos, burritos) are available as are full plate dinners with a mix of items. full bar.
try the chili if you are only going to have one dish. you'll love it! happy trails
