The best chicken tenders around-and so many for just 10.99! This comes with a ton of chicken tenders, rolls, awesome salad and your choice of a side. You can't go wrong. oh, and the mudslide is a must! On my last visit I ordered a Kailey Coffee-also a must!

On balance this is a hard restaurant to evaluate. It enjoys rabid loyalty from many people, and does produce mostly well prepared (for the theme) items. It has a long history in the community; and while well earned what you were, isn't necessarily what you are. A few tweaks would improve the presentation and the overall experience. It's more than huge portions.

We (party of 5) ordered up the specialty of the house, and the entree while well prepared offered a starter salad that was an embarrassment. A Greek Salad has more than one Greek olive, and should have crumbled feta cheese, not a pat of feta akin to a pat of butter. While containing a variety of lettuces, a couple were obviously wilted. The dressing was very weak and served in a small woven wood bowl that have disappeared from almost every other restaurant. A larger bowl even with the same portion would have looked better and while most salads are prepared ahead of time, refrigerated storage that doesn't dry the vegetables out so much would help.

This may seem a petty quibble, but if you eat in a restaurant on glass dishes, then everything should be served the same way. Sauces to go with items are served in little covered plastic containers akin to melted butter at a seafood shack at the beach. C'mon man. If the meal was served on paper or plastic, I'd expect this, but not in this setting.

Many reviews indicate great servers, ours must have been covering for one of them. She clearly wanted to be some place else, and while our service was functional, there was no effort of engagement, or a return visit between the time we ordered our entrees, and the time they were served. Activity in the restaurant was medium; so no server was snowed under.

I've become used to management patrolling the house, and gauging satisfaction. I think it's important and valuable. It gives a diner an opportunity to get small things addressed that sometimes don't make it to the servers radar. This is a miss in my opinion, especially in a restaurant that has an aging demographic. Casual dining has a lot of competition, and if you rest on your laurels for too long, they get thorny.

On the plus side, they give a good size plate, but tried the chicken fingers (which they're famous for) and found that they put sugar in the batter and deep fried and quite greasy! Don't understand why people wait and pay good money for the junk food they serve.

The Puritan Backroom has been in business since 1917 - long enough for folks to know that they have good food and lots of it. The specialty of the house is chicken tenders that come fried with a special sweet and sour sauce. The fruity sauce is clear and scented with apples and other fruits...it's a secret...but it's pretty good. Another great thing to order is the Teryaki Sirloin Tips - tjhe are big; they are juicy; they can satisfy your craving for beef.

Service is good; food is good; portions are large; and salads are really satisfying. Try this place.

Second best chicken fingers I've ever had. Love their take out chicken fingers and fries. The portions are extremely generous. If you're a chicken finger fan, you gotta go here! You wont be disappointed.

They also have great great salads and if you are 21+ the mudslides are their signature go to drink.
