“Nice Hotel”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed here for one night on a cross country road trip. They are renovating the hotel so if paint smell annoys you then you won't like the hotel until it is done. The staff were nice and friendly and offer shuttle service to the local mall and airport.

The location of this hotel is ideal. Two minutes the airport and the car rental return. There is a shuttle to the airport if you need one. We leaving the hotel at 5:00 am for an early flight and I appreciated that breakfast was available for us (not hot foods, but everything else--cereal, muffins, toast, etc.--hot food service begins at 6:00 am). Our room was very clean and the folks at the front desk were friendly. The microwave and mini fridge is a bonus.

We were given a handicap room (I did not request this) so perhaps other rooms are different, but with the sofa bed pulled out, there was less than 6 inches between the edge of the sofa bed and one of the double beds. I had to get up at night and could barely squeeze between the two beds.

I had requested a rollaway bed when I made the reservation (it said that they were available on the website) and when we got there, I called the front desk to request this. I was told that they didn't have rollaways. Yet after reading the information book in the room, they mentioned that rollaways were available. Not sure what the issue was with this.

My last issue with the room was that the air conditioner/heat is the type where it sits under the window and blows air to cool the entire room (like many hotels have). The room would start to get hot and stuffy, and then the air conditioner would come on and it would blow directly on me when I was trying to sleep. The switch between chilly and stuffy all night was bothersome to me.

The nightly rate was good, and perhaps the non-handicap rooms are more spacious in the sleeping area (my son noted that the bathroom was about as large as the rest of the room--an exaggeration, but the bathroom was definitely large).

Room Tip: Don't accept a handicap room if you plan to use the sofabed.

We stayed in a recently renovated room, king bed, but no nightstand or lamp on one side. Had to move a lamp from the living area and place personal items and water glass on the floor. Spoke to the manager the next morning and he said it was a design issue they were addressing. Seems like they should have done this before the renovation. Also no phone on the work table, manager said this is intentional in the new design. We always stay at Marriott properties and are normally very satisfied, this was the worst room we have had and it was new. Manager seemed very indifferent to the issue and did not even offer an apology. Based on past stays this property has gone down hill even with the renovation.

NIce hotel, convenient and clean. No food and lobby undergoing renovation. There's no food/pub nearby except for drive - you'll have to have delivery. Meets expectations, but not more.
Airport parking is across street and shuttle is shared with a few other hotels, so plan on an earlier shuttle.

If you need the Marriott points then stay here. They do not tell you that the lobby is under construction or that you must use the fitness center across the street a the Homewood Suites. It wouldn't be so bad if the front desk word be knowledgeable about the fitness facilities. Instead I have to take your chances. The staff was nt very friendly. Checking in at 10:55 and they only sell beer until 11:00, but the beer was already warm! I still can't figure that ne out. Bathroom was not clean, I would Rate it a 2.5 out of 5. the sitting area was dusty. Overall it appears there is a lack of attention to detail. I predict this property will be a Red Oof Inn in the near future. Marriott needs to step in here.

Smallest Springhill room I've stayed in. TV remote was absolutely gross. Note to housekeeping staff. Finger-sized hole in wall right above head of bed a bit alarming. On the plus side, staff at front desk very friendly and professional. Easy shuttle access and printing of boarding passes are a plus. Lots of lobby remodeling going on but noise not a problem overall not a bad choice but there might be better at this ptice point.

Thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. I apologize that your suite was not up to your satisfaction and I assure you that we have addressed both of the issues in the room. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention as they truly do help us to get better.

I am glad that our front desk took great care of you and that you enjoyed our complimentary 24 hour airport shuttle. Our hotel renovations are due to end in May and I hope if you are returning to the area that you will come see the final result.

Thanks,

Jonathan Newton
