Fratello's is one of my favorite restaurants in Manchester and I have been wanting to go back for weeks. We took some friends who also like Fratello's, on a Tuesday around 6 PM. We dropped the women off at the door and parked the car. While we were parking the women went inside and were immediately greeted and asked if the wanted to sit upstairs. They said sure and went up. When we came in we didn't see them and asked the young man at the door if they went upstairs and he said he didn't know. So we went up and found them. We normally sit downstairs, but we didn't think it was a big deal. The place was not busy at all, most tables downstairs and upstairs were empty.
Some of us ordered drinks and others had just water, no appetizers, just ordered our meals. Salads came out quickly and they were fine. We were served bread and butter plus a little seasoned oil. After the salads were cleared we just sat and talked and waited. Around 7 PM a man started playing music and singing and it was loud. I couldn't hear my friends talk when he was singing. At 7:20 I asked my friend if it was ever this slow for him and he said no this was the first time. At 7:30 we got our meals and they were not at all hot. It was obvious they had been sitting around at least ten minutes while we had been waiting. The food on the bottom of the plates was still warm but the top wasn't. The food was good, just not hot. Our waitress wasn't attentive. She never even asked us if we wanted refills on our water, more bread, or if everything was okay. It seemed to me she had other things on her mind.
We will give the place another try, but not for a while. I recommend sitting downstairs if you want to be able to talk. Also we never had bad service downstairs. Maybe we caught them on an off night or we just had a waitress who wasn't very good. I think it was both.
