Thayers Inn
Ranked #5 of 5 Hotels in Littleton
Reviewed June 24, 2013

I've stayed at Thayers Inn twice, once in one of their smallest rooms and most recently in likely their nicest. The staff is amazing, the property is gorgeous in its historic reverence and detail. The common room with continental breakfast stuffs is friendly and comfortable. The rooms themselves are clean, tidy, and comfortable, and feel very personal, like staying in the guest room of a friend or family member's home. If I had to choose a hotel in which to hole up for months to write the Great American Novel, it would be Littleton's Thayers Inn.

We stayed at the Thayers Inn on a Wednesday night after hiking in White Mountain National Forest. The guy at the front desk (I want to say his name was Dave, but I am not sure) was friendly and helpful. He even helped me in an attempt to convince my boyfriend that the place was haunted (as he had read after Google searching the place). We asked him for advice on places to eat and entertain ourselves while in town for the night. For dinner, we walked to The Little Grille at the Depot (62 Cottage Street) and had a fabulous meal. On our way back to the Inn, we took the “scenic” route across the covered bridge in town.

After dinner, we ventured up to the cupola. Great view from the top. My favorite part was the old time key we had to use to access the stairwell. We also enjoyed relaxing on the second floor balcony (right under the Thayers Inn sign). A charming view.

We stayed in Room 4 on the second floor. It had a full size bed, tv, chair, mini fridge, window AC unit, and closet space. The bathroom was decently sized with a great amount of hot water. The only slightly awkward part? The windows looked right out onto an alley to the parking lot. If you forget to pull the shade, you may give the people waiting to cross the street a show while you’re in the bathroom.

For breakfast, they had coffee (far better than the chain hotel’s stuff I had become accustomed to on my trip), muffins, English muffins, cereal, etc. After breakfast, we walked to Chutters, the world’s largest candy counter, to check out the sweets selection. There was something for everyone there.

I booked our stay through Expedia and paid $86.99. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to other travelers.

My husband and I recently stayed one night at this hotel. We found it to be very comfortable and quiet with all the necessary amenities. The service was excellent and the attendant went out of his way to accommodate us. The location is convenient to many restaurants and shops as it is right downtown. Their free breakfast was adequate and well presented. I would recommend this hotel if passing through Littleton.

This place is right out of the mid 1800s and exudes history from the floors to the ceilings. Some rooms are rather small, but not all the guests were presidents in those days. The service was sharp and friendly and the accommodations comfortable. It's a bit noisy in the back - the compressors remind you of the price of modernity - but other than that, Thayers is a great experience and a great value.

We stayed at the Thayers Inn in Littleton, NH overnight on a Friday in May. The inn itself was quite cute, and very funky with its walls and doorways meeting at odd angles (it *is* an old inn, built in the mid-1800s, so these things are to be expected). When we got to our room, we found it was rather small; the bed was tidily made and the room was clean. The windows, however, opened to a side alley off of the main street; noises from passersby and cars kept us up well into the night. The room was well-heated, almost too much so; we had to keep the windows open for cool air and some moisture, which let the noise in. Any noise from the hallway could also be heard very clearly inside the rooms. I understand it's an old inn and these things make it more of an experience, but a solid night's sleep might be hard to find on the weekends.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room as far away from the main street as you can! That would mean toward the...

This place is my favorite. An old railroad hotel in the mountains, recently refurbished after a fire The old lady needs a lot of TLC and is getting it. Right in the downtown, next to a nice bookstore. A short walk to the Littleton Diner. We always get the corner room on the second floor overlooking the Ammoonusic River. IF you want luxury, rent the Pat Buchanon room. He stayed at the Thayer's Inn when her ran for President. Lessor known luminaries that have stayed at the Inn - President Nixon, Senator Bob Dole, and President Carter. Littleton have found itself a the center of attention every time the first in the nation Presidential Primary rolls around.

Thayers was right in the heart of Littleton and within walking distance of whatever is needed. The building was quite nice and historic. The room was a tiny bit musty, but the value was excellent. The restaurant had an interesting menu and great food.
