“returned again”
Reviewed October 1, 2007

Our family has been returning to Woodwards year after year because it feels like home to us; but better! I must say about 5 years back; before the recent updates it was getting run-down. Everything is done over now, same friendly staff, very calm atmosphere, very clean; and to top it all off the food is so good!! Same chef has been there through the years we've been going; and that is at least 20 years. There is also free entertainment next door, in which kids can attend with the adults. Many attractions nearby; including the Whales Tale (water park) right next door! So if you like the mountains, and need to get away for some family fun or a nice calm time alone; this is the place to go!!

My son and I spent one night here while we where on summer vacation. We toured the grounds and thought it was a little rustic but it was still quaint. Our room was near the duck pond and next to the laundry which at first I thought we where going to here all the machines but to my surprise we didn't here a thing. The only thing I would do differently is stay on the top floor instead of the lower level because we heard footsteps above us for awhile until they went to bed. The room was nice and clean. The ceilings are dropped ceilings which are a little dated but overall we where happy here and the price was decent. My son loved the pool and all the activities that are available on the grounds in case he got bored with swimming. We are planning to go up and stay again, the meal plan(extra) was definitely worth it with plenty to choose from .The staff where very nice and friendly.

We had a great stay here. I was a little nervous because I had heard good and bad. To be safe you should probably request one of the newer rooms. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the outdoor pool. The room was big and clean. The only thing I didn't like was stairwell you had to go up to get to the room. It was stifling in there. The pools were great, the kids loved the ducks (even my 15 year old). The food was good at the restaurant, but my picky 15 year old didn't like too much on the menu. The service had something to be desired of. Our waitress obviously did not like her job, but you can't base everything on that.
I would definately go back.
I do not recommend going to the Whales' Tale next door. It is a rip off. There are only 6 slides and the lines are long. Stay at the motel and enjoy the pool there for free. Or drive along the river and go in the water there.

  • Liked — Spacious room, lots to do.
  • Disliked — Stairs getting to the room.

Booked this motel based upon what i read here, and was not disappointed. Thought the location was good for getting around from. And, the owners were very friendly, nice people......my television had a problem, I stopped in on my way to dinner and when i was done with dinner a new t.v. had been put in my room. Rooms were clean, and fairly new decor. The grounds were well cared for, pools clean, and dining facilities clean also. I felt for a moderately priced motel the service and rooms were well above expected, would recommend

great rates, rooms. indoor/outdoor pools, game room and plenty of grassy areas for the kids to play outside. tennis courts, basketball hoop, playground and trout pond. we drove by and checked it out and booked our room then. the kids played wiffle ball in the yard and spent a lot of time at the trout pond feeding them. a great place to stay with kids or with a team traveling, so much to do right there the kids wanted to stay at the hotel.

Spent three nights at Woodwards as part of a tour of New England with Page and Moy. Please ignore the last review as whoever wrote this was on the same tour and has confused Woodwards with Shoreway Acres Inn, Falmouth on Cape Cod.

Woodwards is a lovely motel with lovely grounds but it is in the middle of no where. There is no main street and no irish pub near. It is in the White Mountains and the nearest town is Lincoln.

It was very quiet when we stayed as the season doesn't really start until June. The room was very comfortable, well decorated, clean and modern bathroom. Two double beds, table and chairs, tv, and coffee maker. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodwards. The breakfast is waitress service from a menu with everything you could want at very reasonable prices. The only thing missing was fresh fruit think there was only grapefruit but great oatmeal (porridge) and they know how the english like their tea made with boiling water.

We also ate our evening meals here as there is really no where else in the immediate area. We had a great steak one night, haddock another and a kebab on the third night.

We choose this place for Labor Day weekend largely based on the reviews on this site, most of which were wildly off. This is a low-end motel, at best a 2 star place, and in its favor it was clean. The first room we were shown was dispressing, the next room we stayed in was noisy and smelled. We were then given a bigger room but for a higher price. The mgt at the desk was rude from checking in to checking out. Webiste hugely misleading, and this hotel is seriously overpriced for what it offers.

  • Liked — nothing really
  • Disliked — shabby place rude management
