“Tiresome Stay with Little Response from Management”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2008

My husband and 3 boys stayed at the Rivergreen in Feb. 2008. When we arrived we were given the wrong accomodations but it was corrected; the clerk apologizing and correcting it with accomodations that were suitable but not what we had booked. The first night we were awakened with screaming and profanity. This continued and I called the desk. The noise stopped for a short time and started up again until I called the desk again. In the morning I voiced my concerns. That night was the same and my family and I were kept up until 3:30 a.m. I complained to the general manager and was offerred a complimentary stay. Despite promises and lots of e-mails this has not happened. My phone calls have not been returned. The clerk that answered the phone told me she did not have a number or address for the corporate office. My stay was filled with a lot of rowdy adults, drinking and smoking by the pool which was ultimately closede due to damage. Terrible response of any kind.

Went up for a quite anniversary getaway. Arrived at night in the snow and this place looked like a 4 star resort from the outside. When when walked in the main door it quickly dropped to a 2 star. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Desk help said our room was "awesome" and had just been remodeled. We did not get that impression at all. Room had a large two person hot tub which we enjoyed each night. Indoor pool was very cold however.
With some minor updating in and around the hotel lobby and some in the rooms, this place would really give a better overall impression. We paid less than $80 a night in the quite off season so it was a good value. Had I paid more I may have been a bit dissapointed.

  • Liked — Price, quitness, hot tub
  • Disliked — cleanliness of room and indoor hotel appearance

We reserved a two bedroom suite for the NH HIghland Games at Loon Mountain. The location of the hotel is ideal for this event, and we were pleased to be staying there. The two BR suites are generously proportioned, with a Queen Master Bedroom and a separate BR with 2 Full Beds. The hotel was ok, but there were two major problems with the suite and one minor inconvenience.

The two major problems were these. First, there were mice!! Several times we saw mice scurry out from underneath an appliance and disappear into the hallway or elsewhere inthe suite. When we brought this to the attention of the innkeeper, they shrugged as if to say, "so what's the big deal?" Certainly there was no inclination to apologize or try to make it right.

The second problem is that there is no air conditioning in the master BR. The weekend was unusually warm and the master BR was quite uncomfortable. The main living area was fine as was the 2nd bedroom, but the absence of A/C was a significant problem on that very warm weekend.

The minor inconvenience was that we did not have private access to the master bath from the master BR. This was kind of a pain when we were dressing and getting ready.

All in all, it was ok. We would stay there again in a pinch, but probably only in a one BR room, and not the 2 BR. There were enough serious problems that I would suggest staying elsewhere if possible.

We stayed in a first floor two-bedroom suite for one night. The suite was very roomy - full kitchen, queen bed/bath and two double beds with a bath. A Murphy bed and sleeper sofa in the living area. The decor is a bit dated, but not terrible.

Major complaint was the mildew which permeated all surfaces -- from the carpet, furniture, even the dishes. If I had to stay another night, I would have gone to a different hotel, it was that bad.

Not enough utensils, dishes, etc. for more than three people -- one fork, three plates, two spoons. For a place that sleeps 8 people, definitely not enough to go around.

If you do stay here, request a room on the higher floors.

On my first impression hotel was typical hotel, nothing fancy, but clean. Excellent Staff.
Pro,s: Able to extend stay an additional 2 days, with no problems-even got the discounted rate I was paying with Expedia.
Very friendly staff, always helpful.
Cons- Room Setup (A 2 bedroom condo is 2 connected hotel rms)
The setup however is very poor, the first room had a big king bed in the bedroom with a small bath and jetted tub (small), kitchen, and living room-the living room had A/C but no A/C in the bed with King Bed made it very hot. The second room was a double bedded room with A/C and a huge bathroom with big 2 person jacuzzi tub, why not the big tub and A/C with a King Bed????
Other Cons was the pool temp was very cold, even for Aug, I would not return in the winter-too cold. And never any pool towels available.

  • Liked — great staff, nice jacuzzi bath in 2nd room
  • Disliked — room set up, cold pool temp

We were plasantly surprised with this hotel, had read it may be dated. We had a very reasonable , 2 bed room for $99 , the new indoor pool and jacuzzi were nice and clean, not much of a fitness room, but a good treadmill is all i care about.

The room was clean, the bathroom was large, a powerful and deep shower / tub . you could use the clean gas grills out back, cook and sit in a very nice screen porch away from the bugs.

Lost River is a fun attraction, Elvios and Chinese restaurant right across the street were good. The Woodstock INn in nearby Woodstock was average at best.
