Trip was to view fall foliage. Most of their customers were pre booked groups (mostly seniors) but despite this fact they seemed not to be adequately staffed in the dining areas with very slow service.
We were there for five days, four nights. The seafood menu items seemed to be the best choices. While there were beef items on the menu including prime rib, we found it not to be of expected quality and tenderness and therefore no one reordered. The breakfast buffet was excellent.
To utilize the indoor pool you must go through the outdoors which is not conducive on cool days.

We stayed in Nh a few weeks back and decided to have dinner at Indian Head Resort. The location of the property was great. Beautiful this time of year. The food as well as the service were very poor. Took about 10 minutes before a server ever came to our table. My boyfriend got a steak. Nothing great. I ordered the chicken parm. When it arrived at the table i was surprised it did not come with pasta but rather a microwaved baked potatoe wrapped in tin foil that was still hard in the middle.
Over all nice hotel but try other places for your dining needs.

We stayed two nights in mid-October. I thought that the check-in time of 4:00 was a little late, but we arrived at 3:00 & they were able to give us a room after checking in with housekeeping. We stayed across the street from the main motel in a Notch View room. The room was very large with a king & a full size bed. You could tell it had been updated a bit with tile in the bathroom & newer fixtures ... a large sink & counter inside the bathroom as well as outside of the bathroom. The beds were comfortable and overall the room was very clean. The 50" plasma TV was great (had to watch the football game on Sunday).
The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast & it was just ok. We had a better breakfast down the street (Longhorn) for about the same price.
The resort is in a great location ... very close to many attractions in the White Mountains. I would definately stay there again in the same type of room. I would find another place to eat, though.

Just got back from a family trip for 3 nights at the Indian Head Resort. Rented a room in the hotel for us older folk and a bungalow for the younger ones. Wonderful time, nice comfortable rooms, great views, bungalow was plenty warm with the gas fireplace. Foliage was past but still pretty. Outdoor pool was very warm and hot tub was hot. We bought the meal plan ($30.00 a day for each person) for all 6 of us which I highly recommended. Full breakfast buffet with coffee and juice and dinner choices including beverage, appetizer and dessert. Great having a spot to eat right there in the morning and knowing where we would have our meal once we were done with the day's activities and it got dark. Good home base. Lounge was fun at night with a live band. Food was good and lots of it. 12 thumbs up from us and will definitely try to go back next fall.

Room Tip: The L room upstairs has the best view of the mountains and pond on one side and you can see the Indian Head from the corner window. Favorite room.

We stayed just one night just prior to Labor Day, in a Notch view first floor room across the road. Since Route 93 was built (maybe 1970s?) bypassing the old Route 3, this has become rather quiet. The Indian Head is a feature on the mountainside to the west, offering the one surviving rock profile in Franconia Notch since the much more iconic 'Old Man' slipped away. It was your classic roadside motel with cabins and mocassins as far back as I remember (certainly the 1960s, but unchanged since the 1930s). Our room was huge and clean. The food service is average at best. The views of the Notch are splendid, though the artificial little pond has its tacky side.

Room Tip: The notch view (west) side is probably a better bet.
