We stayed two nights in mid-October. I thought that the check-in time of 4:00 was a little late, but we arrived at 3:00 & they were able to give us a room after checking in with housekeeping. We stayed across the street from the main motel in a Notch View room. The room was very large with a king & a full size bed. You could tell it had been updated a bit with tile in the bathroom & newer fixtures ... a large sink & counter inside the bathroom as well as outside of the bathroom. The beds were comfortable and overall the room was very clean. The 50" plasma TV was great (had to watch the football game on Sunday).
The only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast & it was just ok. We had a better breakfast down the street (Longhorn) for about the same price.
The resort is in a great location ... very close to many attractions in the White Mountains. I would definately stay there again in the same type of room. I would find another place to eat, though.

Just got back from a family trip for 3 nights at the Indian Head Resort. Rented a room in the hotel for us older folk and a bungalow for the younger ones. Wonderful time, nice comfortable rooms, great views, bungalow was plenty warm with the gas fireplace. Foliage was past but still pretty. Outdoor pool was very warm and hot tub was hot. We bought the meal plan ($30.00 a day for each person) for all 6 of us which I highly recommended. Full breakfast buffet with coffee and juice and dinner choices including beverage, appetizer and dessert. Great having a spot to eat right there in the morning and knowing where we would have our meal once we were done with the day's activities and it got dark. Good home base. Lounge was fun at night with a live band. Food was good and lots of it. 12 thumbs up from us and will definitely try to go back next fall.

Room Tip: The L room upstairs has the best view of the mountains and pond on one side and you can see the Indi...

We stayed just one night just prior to Labor Day, in a Notch view first floor room across the road. Since Route 93 was built (maybe 1970s?) bypassing the old Route 3, this has become rather quiet. The Indian Head is a feature on the mountainside to the west, offering the one surviving rock profile in Franconia Notch since the much more iconic 'Old Man' slipped away. It was your classic roadside motel with cabins and mocassins as far back as I remember (certainly the 1960s, but unchanged since the 1930s). Our room was huge and clean. The food service is average at best. The views of the Notch are splendid, though the artificial little pond has its tacky side.

Room Tip: The notch view (west) side is probably a better bet.

We were so excited when we arrived with six other guests ~ The pool was wonderful our room was nice and the view amazing! We had a very nice breakfast Saturday Morning with okay service ~ We went off for the day and came back looking forward to a nice dinner ~ Well OMG Bambi was the WORST server I have ever had! It took her a half hour to even come over to us ~ When she did she did nothing but COMPLAIN about the kitchen! She took our drink orders and was gone again for a good 15 min. I had to get up and ask another server to please find out what happened to our waitress?????? I ordered prime rib med rare ~ It was GRAY ~ so over cooked I took ONE BITE of my meal NOT that BAMBI noticed or ever even asked how are meal was or if we needed anything ~ When she did bring our meals ~ She had never removed our plates from our aps ~ It was crazy (which of COURSE she again Blames others for not doing HER work!!!) Also, when she brought the meals she asked is anyone was going to be wanting dessert ~ REALLY?????? WHO does that!!!! When we first arrived we talked about maybe picking Indian Head for our Wedding!!!! Well everyone one at my table was so let down ~ One of the girls had to ask to have her meal wrapped up to go because the children had the buffet and had LONG finished their meals ~ Then when her meal came she opedned it and they did not put the french fries ~ ONCE AGAIN ~ Bambi complained to US about the kitchen help and complained to US that SHE had been there since 8:00 am! WHAT???? Honest to God I have tried to let it go ~ But when you work hard and pay for a meal ~ You deserve to be treated right! What a shame!!!!!!! Boo to Bambi!!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms looking out over the pond! Very nice view

Nice place to stay. We stayed in the building across the road but did not find the it busy to cross (then again, we don't have children so we might have a different view on such things). Our room was nice, modern, quiet and had a lovely balcony. We spent two days: on very sunny and one very rainy day and all looks better on a sunny day!

The lady that checked us in was very welcoming and courteous, and so was all other staff.

Funny to see how busloads of elderly people are coming in around 4pm for drinks & dinner.

We ate both days in the restaurant, but were not overly happy with the quality of food offered: I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a vegan option for dinner - but this appeared to be a plate full of noodles with the occasional slice of bell peppper and a lot of oil - hence I was lucky the serve a mini loaf of bread as a complimentary starter.

My wife and I went away for our anniversary. This was the second stop on our vacation. We had booked a "Premium Lake View" room, for two nights. We checked in @ 4 PM, and unpacked. The first thing we noticed was the mildew aroma, so we opened the slider to air it out.
We were a little beat from our drive, so after a nap we decided to eat at the motel restaurant. Bad move. The food was less than OK. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, but she just works there. The tub felt like you were walking on a sponge, (bad fitting tub cover), the bathroom door had to be forced shut, and mildew stains on the walls in the shower. The only thing that looked like it had been updated in the last 5 -10 years, was the 50" flat screen TV on the wall.
When I checked out, I let them have my list of complaints. She took $50- off my bill. That did not come close to my satisfaction. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.......

Room Tip: Try to find rooms that have been remodeled, if any.....

We've been taking our kids to Indian Head on their birthdays for 5 years and they LOVE it. The indoor and outdoor heated pools are great; they love riding the paddle boats and fishing in the duck pond, playing ping pong in the game room, shuffle board, the gift shop, the tower. Tons of fun, kid friendly stuff. Also very conveniently located near tons of great family attractions. That said...with the exception of the breakfast buffet which I highly recommend, the food in the dining room is just ok. The meal plan for families with kids is a great deal but as mentioned the adult dinners are eh. The service is hit or miss. The rooms are nice but far from luxurious. And all that said....we're going back again next year. The boys love it.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room in the main building on the pond side.
