After a hectic trip to NY, we were little skeptical to drive that far to an unknown place. We finally decided to give it a try and boy....what a pleasant surprise we had!!! This motel is almost next door to the famous gorge and so many other fun filled attractions.
The room we had was big, clean and airy with all the amenities that one may need in such a place to have a relaxing, quiet time in the mountains. The beds were comfortable. The rear window opens to a surprise..."The Pemi" that passes thru the backyard so close you can hear the it in the room. That alone is a reason I want to come back again next year!! The picnic tables and BBQs along the bank are a wonderful change to have your leisure breakfast/lunch. The sound of the flowing water thru open window is a melodious soothing lullaby, works like a charm. We stayed at # 8 but # 12 is closer to the river, it’s a corner room.
Convenient eateries’ like Sunny Day Diner, Brittany’s cafe, Woodward's steak house are within reach after a long day at trails and mountains.
Its true this place may not have all the frills and embellishments like other expensive places, BUT IF YOU’RE LOOING FOR A CONVENIENT, ECONOMICAL, YET SQUEAKY CLEAN AND FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION, ITS JUST RIGHT FOR YOU.

I thought this would be a cute motel to go to for a weekend with the family and i must say the price was very fair. we stayed in one of the cottages but it did need alot of updating which you could see from the inside and also the outside!my downfalls where we where told it would have a queen and a double bed which it only had 2double then i was also told that it had a shower and tub but it only had a shower, and also the faucets in the bathroom where both leaking.besides that it did have a nice river in the back with picnic tables and the staff lady was very nice and the place was cleaned everyday!it would be nicer also if they had something for children like a playscape to keep the children occupied!

The bedroom and living room needs renovations but other than the air conditioner being loud, everything else was fine. The room was maliciously clean and the service was impeccable as well.
Extremely nice and helpful staff. It would be nice to have wireless internet available in the rooms. River adds a nice touch even though it was only viewable from our bathroom.
The bathroom was recently done and was very clean. The toilet did not work very well but the staff came and fixed it right away.
I would stay here again and the price is hard to beat.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Franconia Notch Motel. The price could not be beat - $59 on Thursday and $64 on Friday and Saturday nights. The inn keeper was welcoming and helpful. We loved our view - just feet from the a roaring river - the rush of the water made for great sleeping! The king bed was very comfortable and the room was so clean. We had a little fridge and rooms with 2 beds also have microwaves. The shower was hot and had good water pressure. We stayed in room 7 which is a cool little room. Despite being one of the smallest rooms we liked it because it is off a little hallway (the door does not open directly to the parking area), was so quiet - we didn't hear any sounds from other guests or their TVs, and is in the corner so you have 3 windows total. We spent our days touring The Flume, Lost River, and exploring the top of Cannon Mt. via the Tram ride to the top. All of these were just minutes from the motel. We would definitely stay there again. It is an older hotel (which you can see in the wall paper, counter...) but the linens were in great condition and it was cleaner than many newer hotels I've stayed in. The owners are clearly invested in their hotel. Also it was one of the only hotels in the area completely booked up for the 4th of July. With everyone having to watch their budgets more carefully this hidden jewel might fill up fast so I'd recommend calling ahead.

We just needed a place to sleep for a ski overnight. We weren't going to get there until late Friday night and we were just going to be sleeping and then waking up and hitting the slopes so we didn't need anything fancy. This place was perfect, the woman on the phone and same woman when I checked in couldn't be friendlier and seemed happy to have us. The room, included a microwave and minifridge (thought the minifridge was actually unplugged when we arrived). Though everything in the room seemed mismatched and some things like the chairs a bit old, it didn't matter. The room was clean and so was the bathroom.

It's a motel at the end of the day, so if you want something fancy, this isn't for you. But a place to crash before a night of skiing for $50, you can't really beat this place.

Also noticed they had some board games in the office, though we didn't use these. I would definitely go back for a night or two if I was skiing in the area.

Thank you for placing this wonderful review on tripadvisor. We could go to any extent to make our guests feel at home. Every employee at the motel works hard. The reason we keep refrigerators unplugged is because of our concern on global warming. We don't mind digging the garbage after guests leave to find bottles for recycling. We do not believe in wasting anything that we get from nature. That's the reason we replaced faucets in rooms, so that we can avoid wasting the water, that we get for free in Lincoln. You enjoyed your stay last time, we will make sure you enjoy your stay every time you stay with us. Once again, thank you for sharing your experience with us. Have a wonderful day.

Just got back from our long weekend in chilly, snowy New Hampshire. We needed an inexpensive place to stay, preferably something with some kitchen facilities so we could bring at least breakfast and lunch food. I found the Fraconia Notch Motel on Tripadvisor. The reviews were great, and the price OUTSTANDING, so I gave them a call. We had a fantastic experience from the first phone call. The girl who answered (I believe the owner's niece) was friendly, professional, and couldn't be nicer. She quoted me a price over the phone of $269.00 which included a 3-night stay (SATURDAY, Sunday and Monday), PLUS two mid-week lift tickets to Loon Mountain. The room would have a KING sized bed, PLUS a refrigerator (dorm sized) and microwave. UNBELIEVEABLE!!

Check in was quick and easy, even though we arrived after 9:30 p.m. This is a family run property, but the owner's niece was there to greet us in the office - again, she was friendly and pleasant. We had room #2, which backed up to a wooded area. The motel is right on Route 3, but traffic noise was never an issue - the road, although a main thoroughfare right off of I-93, does not appear to be heavily travelled. The entire site is NON-SMOKING (in the rooms, you can obviously smoke outside). It was so pleasant to open the door and not be hit with the smell of stale smoke. Actually there was no smell to the room at all (no damp, moldy smell that sometimes accompanies older motels). The room consisted of a comfy king sized bed with 4 pillows and an extra velour type blanket. Table with two chairs, nightstand with clock (no radio), coat rack with plenty of sturdy wooden hangers for heavy winter wear, microwave, dorm sized refrigerator, dresser, phone and TV with cable, and an ice bucket (there is ice available in the office). The heat worked GREAT - there is a thermostat and then an in the wall heater which blows out the hot air. You can control the level of heat - the higher it blows, the louder it is, but it was never an issue for us.

The bathroom was standard with one sink, toilet and tub/shower combo. They were nice enough to supply us with 3 small bars of soap, wrapped plastic cups, and a "goodie" bag with a granola bar, shampoo/conditioner samples, Jergens lotion samples/coupon, and also Zicam samples. Towels were plentiful. The room was very clean, and someone came to straighten up and change the towels daily.

We were pleasantly surprised at how little noise we were able to hear while in our room. We never heard anyone else talking, toilets flushing, showers running, TV's playing, etc. The walls to this place must be exceptionally thick!

The refrigerator and microwave worked out perfectly for us - we were able to eat breakfast in the room each morning, heat up soup/tea, and even reheat some leftovers from an area restaraunt. There is plenty to do in the area, and Loon Mountain is a mere 10 minutes away. We did find that a lot of the shops were not open during the week, and even some restaraunts were either closed for the season, or just during the week.

If I had to make two small suggestions (to help out the owner) it would be this: have a sign in the bathroom regarding towel washing. With today's concerns about water/utility consumption MOST people would forgo fresh towels on a daily basis - I certainly don't wash my own every day! :) We hung ours up knowing they would dry, but they were replaced before we could use them again. I should have contacted the office and let them know this was not necessary.

The other thing would be to have a boot/shoe area inside the front door. I can get these locally for about $4.00 a piece - they are large, rectangular, flat, plastic "things" that hold about 3 pairs of shoes/boots. I felt bad about tracking in snow/sand/salt all over our shoes and obviously onto the carpet. Having something like this would keep the carpet looking fresh, longer.

We could not have been more comfortable at the Franconia Notch. If you are looking for 5-star accomodations, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a homey atmosphere that is clean, comfortable, friendly, inexpensive and close to the action of the White Mountains, this is absolutely the place for you. We LOVED it!! Thanks for a perfect stay!!

We arrived late and they left the key in an envelope outside the office for us. The room was spacious, clean, and had a very powerful heater that we definitely needed on this freezing night! I loved having the river running along the back of the rooms (although I never saw the elusive moose). In the morning I went to the office to pay and we got 2 lift tickets to Loon for the discounted price of $63 each (the price of a 1/2 day lift ticket). Since we bought the lift tickets, our room rate was greatly discounted as a part of their Ski & Stay rates and we only had to pay $25 a night! It was a STEAL for a clean room and very helpful girl at the front desk. I will definitely recommend it to anyone who is staying in the area!
