“Accomodating Staff and Convenient Location”
Reviewed August 8, 2011

Most of the previous reviews were right on the money. The staff were very friendly and accomodating, that made the stay worthwhile. Other than that, the place does need a makover (old TV's, broken tiles in the bathroom, and outdated furniture). The pool was also closed for maintenance but we did not intend on using it.
This hotel is very convenient to a grocery store and right across the street from a mexican restaurant. It is also just a short ride down to Hanover where there are several good restaurants and shopping. Not too far of the main highway which provides quick access both north and south. Also very close to DHMC.....they have a free shuttle which will take you there.
The buffet breakfast was stocked with the usual things you find at a Residence Inn. Despite the hotel being full, the staff did a good job at keeping the buffet stocked for guests.
There is also a Courtyard in the same complex which seems newer. Overall, I would stay here again.

This is not only a hotel but also a second home. I stayed at this hotel while I was working on a research project at Dartmouth college. My family and I stayed for about 1.5 months. If you are busy and you don’t want to waste time with little things, this is the place to stay at. The shuttle service took us to many places in town, breakfast was prepared everyday (options varied over time) and supper was prepared every weekday, fast Internet, nice view, pool, gym and access to a close gym etc... In addition to all the services they have, how friendly ALL the staff are, makes them unique. Everyone is welcoming and very helpful (Kathy Y., Jessica, Taylor, mike, house keeping staff… all). We had a great time and I highly recommend it to any one and for any type of visits (work, vacation, etc..).

This was our first stay at a Residence Inn and now I understand my cousin's view on the chain: 'When traveling with children, I will not visit a location unless there is a Residence Inn nearby'. You really can't beat the comfort and space for the money. The staff went out of their way to help everyone fell comfortable - they were absolutely helpful in every way imaginable. I even got a reduced rate - right when I checked in - without asking!
That being said, our room had seen better days. The kitchen area was old and worn. The refrigerator door had several dents in it and the stove looked well loved as well. The cleanliness of one of the bathrooms was questionable. There was some mold growing and the floors could have used some elbow grease. The couch and beds were in great condition.

For those unfamiliar with the area, there is a mexican restaurant right next to the hotel. There is also a wonderful Co-Op grocery store next door as well so, it's easy to eat in at the hotel. The hotel is great for those visiting the hospital - less than a mile away.

Overall, I would absolutely stay at the Residence Inn again. My experience at the Courtyard up the street was not as positive - I'll take the friendly service over the newer hotel any day.

I got married last Sat. and my wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. Service was excellent, the help was more than helpful. Good size rooms too. Definitely go here for our extended honeymoon or if ever back in area.

The location of the hotel is the best part about this place. The rooms were large and fit the 5 of us just fine. Nice to have everyone together and the fridge was a huge plus. Could walk to the Co-Op and get food.

The rooms are a little dated--there was a huge tear in the carpet when we entered the room, black mold on the ceiling in the shower, and the TV's are the old school ones---barely big enough to see well from bed. They come in every day and make your bed for you, but they never once changed our sheets in the week we were there.

We were also placed in the middle floor and could constantly hear the people above us walking around all night long. Not very sound proof.

The exercise room is a joke. It's about the size of a closet and there is no A/C, so when it's 95 out, the room felt like it was 120. All it has is a treadmill, which felt like it was barely working and always had the notice that it needed to be waxed on the screen, a stairclimber and a bike. No water in there either. There was a jug for it but they obviously don't tend to the room since it wasn't ever changed while we were there.

Breakfast was great and it was nice to have a decent variety of food every morning. We played in the pool a couple of times. Small but worked just fine late at night. The hot tub was never "hot" though. Felt like a warm bath.

For four years my husband I made the Residence Inn our home away from home when visiting our son at Dartmouth College. As parents of an athlete, we wanted to see as many games as possible. We stayed at this warm and cozy hotel about 25 nights a year. Doug Preston and his staff will go out of their way to make you comfortable. They will pick you up from the Dartmouth Coach stop, and if necessary drive you to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. This year they made graduation a memorable experience even in the hotel. Decorations, special amenities and transportation were just the beginning.
Breakfast is warm, filling and satisfying. Weeknights there is a light supper served. Every room is a suite with kitchen. There is an incredible market, dry cleaners and liquor store within yards. What more can you ask for?
If you find yourself in Hanover or Lebanon, see Doug and his staff at the Residence Inn. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Some kings, some queens, all with sleeper sofas.

Our son just graduated from Dartmouth and our family stayed here for the festivities. It couldn't have been more pleasant and comfortable. The room is large, attractive, and the full sized kitchen was great . The room was big enough for us to have eight guests over for champagne and cake to celebrate our son's accomplishments. The complimentary breakfast was about the best I have encountered (and this includes luxury hotels) and the candy bowl and cookie jars were full of special treats. The staff was friendly and upbeat. Although this is a chain, I recommend this hotel if you are visiting Dartmouth or the medical center. Good location. No complaints. although I couldn't get Internet to work in our rrom.
