It is very much a diner - good food, reasonable size portions, and great pricing along with older décor and what appeared to be deferred maintenance - exactly what we were looking for as lunch on our road trip north.

We were lucky to be seated near the window and my daughter was very entertained watching the boats and jet skis pass by.

We arrived at what appeared to be the end of breakfast rush for our lunch, just a reminder that there is parking out back for anyone arriving when it's very busy.

just plain ole diner food the way you want it. I had a cheeseburg club with fries and no complaints gobbling it down! The bonus of a window seat watching the boats go by was cool!

Donna Jean's was recommended by the owner of the Lake Winnipesaukee Motel where we stayed (see my review on this motel). If you're seeking a healthy, urban-style breakfast, keep driving. But we like diners so enjoyed some artery-snapping shut bacon and eggs. The food's well prepared and presented, with decent prices. The restaurant is warm and friendly, with a partial view of a stream.

The only real downer was our young female server who seemed abjectly bored with us, frowning each time she came to our table, then breaking into smiles at tables where she knew the customers. This is a cardinal sin for those in the service industry. Treat people as how you would like to be treated.

Would we return to Donna Jean's? For sure. Hopefully next time we'll have a server who's more upbeat.

Donna Jean's is not a secret: especially on the weekends, it's crazy busy. But that is a testament to the excellent food and service they provide here. My husband and I have been to Donna Jean's often; we've been vacationing in Weirs Beach for 10+ years. The menu has something for everyone!
