While I realize that it can be an expensive proposition to eat out, I think the owners of this restaurant have taken that premise a bit too far. Quality, taste, preparation are all average. Decor, ambiance, service, etc. is average. The only thing out of line with any ordinary, average restaurant specializing in, mostly, Italian fare, is the price that is being charged. Somebody in management, apparently, thinks that what is being served up is worthy of the prices being charged. I suspect that, as flow of customers decreases, he or she might find the need to reassess the pricing policy currently in effect. Restaurant occupies a relatively small floor space, so be prepared to have the feeling that your neighbors might be infringing a bit on your elbow room. Also has a relatively low ceiling, so also be prepared for a good deal of ambient sound (if not just plain noise!).

One of the best restaurant experiences I've had. Sat at the bar to eat, the bartender was very entertaining and the food couldn't have been better. Definitely check the specials when you're there, as there is always something good. Can't wait to go again.

I have been going to Nicola's for many years,. It is probably the BEST italian food I have ever had in the U.S. The atmosphere is lovely, with an area to sit and enjoy a drink before dinner. Cheryl (the hostess and wife of Nicola) is very sweet. Make sure to make a reservation, especially on a weekend. He also does a couple of cooking classes during the year..and a holiday dinner in December for about 40 people. More food (about 8 courses) with wine and drinks included...than you could ever imagine. I would highly recommend Nicola's if you can't guess.

Excellent authentic Italian food, some of the best I've had outside of Italy (and better than most I had in Italy.) Good wine list, with plenty of choice at every price level.

Great service: on our first visit the waitress guided us through the menu, was able to speak knowledgeably about every dish. Servers have always been attentive without being in the way - very professional.

Good decor once you're inside, though the entrance (along a corridor through a bland office/retail building) leaves a lot to be desired.

Expensive but worth every penny. We'll certainly be eating there again and again.

This is an above average restaurant. I especially loved the kitchen being right in the dining room. Food was creative and very well prepared and presented. Not cheap, but pretty much worth the price for a special night out. A couple of the tables are close together and its a bit loud, but nothing too much to keep you from going, just expect it.
