“Superior New York Pizza”

Amicci's Italian Pizza

I'll keep it simple - my family feels that, outside the NYC area, there are 3 superior pizza places in the United States. One in Virginia Beach, one in Nashville, and Amicci's. Understand that we have to drive 30 minutes to get to Amicci's, passing 7 other "pizza" shops in the process, and we do so readily. The pizza's have always been perfect - dry crust, sweet New York sauce that's a bit runny. Got to fold it to eat it! And the owner is friendly as well, always smiling, greeting you, and raising money for some local family/ cause as well. In the summer we like to sit outside on their tables, watching the people. Wish I could give a 6 rating. Oh yes, the price . . . @ $10 for a large cheese pie they could raise their prices and keep their business (hope the owner doesn't read this!).

Amicci's I stumbled upon when I was staying in Keene and walking on Main Street. It has order at the counter, free drink refills, and a welcome atmosphere. The people behind the counter are super friendly. Smiles all around. One can sit at bar style tables, or at long window countertop and look out at the passersby on Main Street in Keene.

The pizza is by the pie, or by the slice. They are traditional NY style large slices, thin and good. Moderate mozerella cheese (not the goopy cheesy mess that is Pizza Hut, Athens Pizza, etc.) and great sweet tomato sauce on fresh pizza pie dough, always hand tossed, makes this 'za great.

I have nothing bad to say about this joint. They make pizza and grinders and that's it. I think it is head and shoulders above Athens, across the street, that tries to sell everything and masters nothing. Amicci's knows what it does best, and does it exclusively.

I would eat here again, and in fact had three NY slices (big!) because it was so good and I was so hungry after climbing Monadnock.

Amicci's, a big moon-sized pizza pie. Great stuff! Recommended.

Let's cut to the chase.....
There are lots of people slinging pizza these days with very mixed results. I'll admit some people's loyalty is stemmed in cost and convenience.
As a native New Yorker, this pie is great! No Greek imitation with extra grease. The staff are even greater. My favorite are the "white pies"-Caprese with fresh garden tomatoes, mozzarella, garlic, spices on a delicate crust, Florentine with mozzarella, onions, garlic, sninach, mushrooms, feta and Roma with eggplant, red peppers and mozzarella.
The staff remember your name and are very personable. Great New York style pie that won't break the bank.

On the road, got a take-away from here - Cheese with one half mushrooms.

Quality dough, good cheese, tasty mushrooms, all cooked just right.

Friendly, too.

All-round good value.
