Quiet elegance is the key to this wonderful property. Much thought has gone into making the Colony House a very desirable destination. Enjoy it all!

I was looking for a place to stay for a family wedding and received a recomendation for the Colony House. The room was very nice and the private bath (although across the hall) was beautiful. Robes in the room were a nice treat in a B&B. There were little candies in the room and quality bath products in the bathroom. Everything was very clean and well kept. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. It was a very convient location. A great find! I'll would certainly stay again!

What a great place. Nothing super fancy, but very nice. In a lovely old brick house, nicely restored, just steps from the center of town (but off the main street). Our room was extremely nice, with a great bed and very nice linens. The bathroom was great, and the shower was excellent. The whole process of reserving a room, checking in and checking out was extremely informal and friendly and efficient. The breakfast was excellent, the owner was friendly and interesting to talk to. The price was reasonable. What's not to like?

I have stayed at Colony House on more than a dozen occasions during the past 5 years and each stay has been excellent. The rooms are tastefully decorated - as is the entire property - and all but the front room are very quiet, the beds are superb, the showers are excellent, the continental breakfasts substantial, and Joslin is a most congenial hostess. Colony House is #1 for me in Keene.

Room Tip: Front room is the least quiet, but noise is not such to spoil a good night's rest.

This place really is one of a kind. While a far cry from a corporate style hotel, it made my stay in Keene really memorable, and helped me get a feel for the history of the city. It was nice to feel like I was stepping back in time, to a place when manners mattered, and great care and attention was taken to family homes. I almost felt like I didn't deserve to be there, but settled in, and just made myself comfortable. The meals were amazing, as was the hostess. I highly recommend staying here, and thought the value was really great for the quality of the experience.

Colony House is a beautiful, immaculate B&B near the town square and college. Joslin Kimball Frank has restored the 19th C. house to create a beautiful space both for herself and her guests. There is a nice Continental breakfast each morning, with varied choices, a sitting room, and a TV room. The bedrooms are comfy and bathrooms have new fixtures. She is also a wealth of information about the Keene area, past and present. My wife and I could not have found a better place to stay in the area.

My fiance and I are getting married near Keene and stayed at the Colony House for a night while we took care of some business related to the wedding. It was lovely. The house is a little rundown on the outside, but inside the historical details are well-preserved, the rooms are pleasant and spacious and there are small details that made our stay special, like comfy bathrobes and candy on the nightstand.

Breakfast was excellent. There was enough variety to satisfy anyone's tastes, including cereal, bagels, fresh fruit, and meat and cheese, among other delicious items. There are some drinks stocked in the fridge at all times and the owner gave us beverages to take for the ride home. She is not only warm and welcoming, but she is truly interesting to chat with. She is very familiar with the history of the area and has many stories to tell.

When we arrived, no one was there to greet us. There was a note and a key. This was fine with us, but since it is a small operation, don't expect immediate service upon arriving; we still felt right at home, though. Also, they don't take credit cards (or at least prefer not to), so that's something else to be aware of. It's a little pricey for the area, but for what you get, it seems reasonable.

All in all, we will stay there again hopefully, and will certainly recommend it to our wedding guests as a homey, interesting place to stay!
