We stayed for one night on the 14 th and Applebrook was great. We stayed in Valerie and the roomwas a bit small. But no problem for 2 people. The bath was small but very clean and the views were amazing. Breakfast was great and the cookies were so good. We will be back!

Cute place in the country with GREAT mountain views. The common room has 2 1/2 walls of glass that look out over the countryside and towards the mountains, it is just lovely. We stayed in the Tower room which has a turret that is used as a bed nook, very cute. It is located on the front of the house and faces east. I was woken up by the neighbors rooster just in time to look out and see a beautiful pink sunrise. The downside to the room is it faces the road and even though this is a country setting, there were several cars that went by between 5 and 6 am and I could also hear some of the traffic from nearby Rte 2. Not a big deal but if you're looking for absolute quiet this probably won't do. Breakfast was delicious pancakes, muffins, juice and coffee. Cereal was available as well. Tea (good brand, not just general grocery store brand) and coffee available all the time and home made choc. chip cookies. Rooms were clean, sweetly decorated and all unique. All in all a really nice stay at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Rooms are good size with two family suites. The Tower Room bathroom was adequate but one of the sma...

Used to stay in a motel for our NH vacation...but will never do that again after this experience. Joy is a wonderful hostess...Applebrook is charming and clean. Spacious common room and dining area. DELICIOUS breakfast with homemade muffins, egg items, pancakes and fresh fruit! Great location for hiking and Santa's Village (we did both). Stayed with our 3 and 6 year old in Lupine Room. Kids loved the room and home! There's a room for movie watching, too. Common room has games for kids & adults. Such a comfortable, warm feeling here. We will be back to stay again! AND THE CHOCOLATE COOKIES ARE AMAZING! (Joy's homemade recipe.) What a treat! Thank you! Thank you!

We happened upon information on this B/B in the Stash Tea Guide- looking for places to stay with great hiking around it....BINGO! What incredible luck!
What wonderful, fun, and enjoyable hosts...extra touches all around, including great baked goods (the cookies and apple muffins we took along for the rest of the trip were a treat after many a wet and hard hike that week!) I was able to get laundry done so my luggage was less...obvious that we'd been hiking around. You can't imagine (unless you've been there/done that) how much of a luxury that is.
We stayed in Nellie's Nook...and LOVED the back deck with the hot tub (ahhh- post canoe and mountain bliss.)
The area could not be any better- remote, w/out being too far out of the way- no big city rush feel- just country get away quiet and bliss.
We loved our stay, and will go back to re-explore the area next year....so fix that chicory coffee!
Thanks for everything...Dena and Dave. :)

Traveling with our four young kids can pose a challenge for lodging. I chose the Applebrook because we could get the entire top floor ("Granny's Attic" or somesuch name) for a reasonable rate. It was our first experience in a B&B, and WOW! The house is this huge, interesting, sprawling place; yes, the paint's chipping here and there, but it's minor stuff next to the beauty of the house overall. The hosts have delicious homemade cookies out every afternoon and a bright little room with lots of toys and games in it for little kids. The breakfasts-- unbelievable. Blueberry-stuffed French toast, omelets, fruit cups, all in generous quantities and made to order. She caters to the kids' tastes for those breakfasts, too, and gives the adults the more sophisticated versions.

The top floor proved to be a really great place to stay. Comfortable beds, very quiet, lovely view, and a TV room where the kids could hang out while the parents rested and where the parents could spend time together after the kids were in bed. My sons loved their fish-themed bedroom. The next time we visit Santa's Village, I have no doubt we will return to the Applebrook.

The only caveat I must offer is that Jefferson is a pretty remote little town. We chose to stay in the B&B the whole week we were there, and that led to a LOT of driving. There aren't a lot of places to eat in Jefferson, either. The next time we visit, I would probably stay at the Applebrook for the Santa's Village portion of the trip but stay around North Conway for the rest of it. Still, the B&B itself was one of the highlights of the trip for me. It was a treat to stay in a house as great as that one.

The purpose of our trip to the White Mountains was to take the kids to Santa's Village. There were 7 of us between two rooms w/ three children and we couldn't have felt more comfortable and right at home. Tom and Joy are great.....Joy's afternoon cookies are wonderful and breakfast is always served with local maple syrup....yummy. The common areas are wonderful and there's plenty to keep the kids entertained. The great fireplace/wood stove is warm and cozy. The surrounding views of the mountains outside your window is breathtaking. We would like to make Santa's Village an annual trip and we wouldn't stay anywhere else. My whole family loved it. Thanks Joy and Tom!

I travelled from England on the 2nd November and arrived at the Applebrook on the 3rd November with my friend Aurora who is from Maine
I found the place to have a certain character to it like an old world charm all of its own .
The Applebrook is a beautiful old building and is beautifully furnished and comfortable and has a really friendly atmosphere to it.
The rooms are great and have the same old fashioned feeling and charm to them as well as nice functional ensuite bathrooms . The bed was very comfortable and warm and it was a great feeling at night to lay in bed and see the stars through skylights in the White Mountain Suite.
Joys breakfasts were great although not what I was used to ( with being English ) but as the saying goes "when in Rome do as the Romans do " and I must admit that I loved every one of Joys breakfasts.
I think that what I loved most about the Applebrook was the feeling that it's a real guesthouse with real people and not at all like some of the prefabricated motels that you get in the cities. Tom and Joy were great hosts and it certainly adds meaning to the phrase " American Hospitality ".
One thing for sure is that I'll definately be returning to the Applebrook.
