The grounds are well maintained with beautiful plants and lots of area to relax. The playground had a large variety of things for the kids to keep busy playing. One cow and two goats make up the "petting zoo". I thought the room was clean, big and updated. I hated the "hot tub" which was one of those small, portable ones that anyone could buy and place anywhere; it wasn't big enough for more than 2 adults, so it was always full and it smelled funky. For me, a hot tub is a deal breaker. I didn't love the fact that the talk up their campfires so much but then sell you a stick; that just seemed tacky.

We have two pools as well as two hot tubs. One of which is a brand new commercial hot tub that can fit 8. We try and make your trip as convenient as possible hence the campfire sticks for sale.

We stayed here in June. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids. We were going to Santa's Village and this resort is right across the street. We stayed in the motel. The rooms were clean and looked like they had recently been updated. The rooms had a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and flat screen tvs. You could also rent a DVD player for $5 and they also had movies to rent. The resort is AWESOME! They had a very nice playgroud for your kids to burn off some energy. A volleyball court, horseshoe pits, two pools, hot tub, a small petting zoo and arcade. They also do nightly activities like making smores, a hay ride, arts and crafts, candy bar bingo and even miss sleepy time. She comes and reads your kids a bedtime story at night if you choose to have her. There was so much to keep the kids busy and the location is great! If you are looking for a place to stay in the beautiful White Mountains this is your place! If we ever go back to the White Mountains we will definitely be staying here again!

My family and I just returned from what was our third consecutive trip to the Lantern. We stayed for the first time in 2010 in the motel. Everything was fabulous - the staff cannot do enough to help, and we are on a first name basis with the owners, as they work there throughout the season .... a very home-like atmosphere! We enjoyed the place so much that we bought a trailer for the next season and we now plan our family vacations around the Lantern! We are happy to drive the 7 hours to get there because we have not been to a campground yet that can come close to it! The buildings are beautiful log cabins, the bathrooms are spotless, the gardens/grounds are immaculate and the pools are beautiful! I really cannot say enough wonderful things about this place....and it's seconds to Santa's Village, which is great for our little girl! Thanks Norma and John....we'll see you again next summer.

Room Tip: Motel and campground are great

We arrived late but were warmly welcomed. Tired from a long day of driving our big RV along the narrow Hwy 2, we just wanted a place to stop. I'd called ahead to make sure they had space but took the risk of not making a reservation. The place was almost full, but they treated us like favored quests, staying past when they should of closed to check us in. The pool was wonderful, there is a petting zoo, a lot for the many happy kids that were playing to enjoy. The park is beautifully maintained and just up the street from Santa's village and waterpark. As RV resorts go, this one impressed us a lot. The owner personally came by and greeted us.

This was actually the third time we stayed at the Lantern Resort. We stayed in the motel and we absolutely love it there. The grandkids always look forward to going when we plan our Santa's Village trip. John & Norma are awesome and their staff goes way over and beyond to make your visit special. Check in was a breeze, the room was really clean, both pools were well maintained but the hot tubs needed work. One did not have water in it (someone said they were waiting for a part to come in) and the other had warm rather than hot water. Could be because people let very young kids in and the hot water would not be good for them. The entertainment was great with Sarah leading campfires and bingo. She was awesome but unfortunately there was a group of young pre teens who were very disrespectful to her during bingo. However, she was very patient and did her best in an uncomfortable situation. She was very good with all the kids and the little ones loved her. We would definitely go back!

Our family has been coming to the Lantern now for 8 years and we have never been disappointed. We have had family members that have stayed in the Motel as well, and they loved it so much the next year they bought a trailer just to go back to the Lantern! John and Norma are awesome owners and if you ever have any problems all you have to do is let them know and they are on it.
The bathrooms are modern and splotless and flowers on the grounds are beautiful! The two pools and hot tubs are wonderful one of the pools has underwater music which both my children love.
The campground is so close to Santa's Village that you can walk. We just returned last week from our vacation from The Lantern and I'm considering going back again next week!

Thanks John and Norma for another great four days at the best campground I can truly say that I have ever stayed at....and one of the cheapest prices for all that is included!!
