“Wow! Made for Romantic Get Away”

We took off for a little R&R. We got much more than we bargained for! This place is a Diamond in the rough. It's quaint, beautiful and great location. The entire place is "attention to detail". The staff is friendly and professional. The owner is cordial and always present. Matter of point: On departure they have you fill out a review form. We gave high marks on every aspect but mentioned that our main course was a little delayed and the wait staff appologized and provided drinks for our inconvenience. The delay was minutes not hours. The owner made several attempts to contact us in a quest to resolve this miniscule issue.
The dining is a 5 course meal in a small well decorated dining area. Many variations on the menu and we enjoyed all courses. The chef also places emphasis on presentation. Making it a nice dining experience. In the morning you get a full breakfast selection in the same dining room.
The room is what sets "The Wentworth" above the rest. We stayed in Arden 407. This suite is completely renovated and HUGE. The 4 poster King size bed is by far the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in (including the one at home). The main room has large over stuffed chairs, classy gas fireplace, large TV. Bathroom has seperate shower, seperate toilet and seperate vanity. The icing on the cake is an outdoor Hot Tub (with privacy) looking into mountains. The entire suite has surround sound stereo w/cd player. We have stayed in hundreds of rooms all over the world (including Mt Washington Hotel, The Balsams, Wentworth by the Sea). This is definetly the nicest top to bottom.

If you are looking for that perfect romantic getaway - no need to look any farther because you've just found it! My wife and I left Georgia and headed for the charms and picturesque scenes of New England, for our 10th anniversary and we certainly were not disappointed. Our three nights at The Wentworth Inn lived up to everything we thought it would. We felt right at home in one of the amster suites which was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated it came with a golf course view and mountains as a close backdrop. We chose the dinner and breakfast plan, the food was excellent with a very friendly and professional service. The bar area was on the smaller side but cozy enough to strike up conversations with fellow guests. Plenty of room on the wide wrap around porches to kick back and relax or get back on your feet and walk around Jackson, with all the quaint shops and the gorgeous views of the river and mountain scenery. We loved the area so much we are in the process of planning our return trip this fall with a couple of days in Maine, then on to another stay at the Wentworth. We have traveled quite a bit throughout the South and East to many fine BB and Inn's and we would rate The Wentworth up their with the best of them.

I must agree with the others below that the rooms in the main building are ** at most. I would suggest you stay far away from room 114.

Every shower we took the temp when cold, probably when anyone in the building flushed or put on their shower. But it is a historical building, so I guess that must be expected. There was no working AC, when we complained a fan was promptly provided. Carpet was stained. Bathroom had mold. The DOUBLE Bed was very uncomfortable. Room was very small.

We were very pleased with the food, although very overpriced if ordered alacarte. Keep in mind that meal gratuities are not included and will run $25 per day. The servers are very clear to point out the value of the meal for those with the meals included in their stay.

I even overheard one waiter brag about how much of a tip he got for an alacarte anniversary family dinner.

Stay only if you can afford the $260+ night deluxe room.

We also spent a weekend in March 2005 at the Wentworth. Our room was in the Arden building, was immaculate, quiet and well-appointed. We appreciated the stereo in the room and the ability to lounge in the whirlpool tub while listening to music...very relaxing! We appreciated being able to walk to the cross country ski area, ski for the day, and return to our room without having to be in the car. We found the food to be nicely portioned and prepared. The soups and the meat entrees were highlights. The breakfasts were filling enough to carry us through until dinner. We would definitely return.

My wife and I stayed at the Wentworth for 3 nights in Mar. 2005.

First, the building itself is very pretty, and is in a great location in Jackson.

The service was excellent. The staff were without exception friendy and helpful.

The food was very good. We had all of our breakfasts at the hotel, and one dinner. The breakfasts were excellent, and include a continental breakfast bar with fruit, juice and pastries along will a full selection of pancakes, waffles, french toast, frittatas and other breakfast specials. The dinner was good. Not a very adventurous menu, be everything (five courses) was well prepared and tasty.

As far as the rooms, we had two very different experiences. We spent the first two nights in one of the (expensive) deluxe rooms (in the Sunnyside building). This room was fantastic: king-size oak sleigh bed, gas fireplace, huge jacuzzi with candles and bath salts, luxurious bath robes hung on the bathroom door.

Our last night was spent in a (much less expensive non-deluxe) room in the main inn. While lower priced, this room was rather dingy. Not horrible, but defitely a pretty plain room, in need of some repair, with an older, small bath, and peeling paint in the corner.

All in all, we loved the Wentworth, and would go back in a second - but only to stay in a deluxe room. If our only choice was a regular room, we would look elsewhere.

We stayed at the Wentworth for four nights in October 2004, staying in the main inn.

As other reviewers have already said, the main part of the inn is perhaps not as luxuriously appointed as the lodges. However, our room was very large and comfortable with lots of character and the restaurant was first class. The food and service were the best we had in all of the hotels we visited across New England.

The staff were all friendly and helpful and the Wentworth's location in Jackson is very good - just by the falls and with a stone bridge and white church close by to add to the picturesque charm.

Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Wentworth for 2 night in May 2004. We had a room in the inn. When we first walked into the room we were not impressed. But for some odd reason it really was not that bad after a while. It really had some character. The food was excellent. We had our children with us ages 6 and 11. They treated the kids wonderfully.
The kids enjoyed getting dressed up and going to dinner. The Wentworth is an excellent place enjoy a good meal, be able to relax and enjoy the company of the people you are with. It is very romantic and has so much character. We are trying to figure out when the next time we can go maybe without the kids.
