“Just perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2007

My husband and I stayed at The Wentworth during the weekend of Oct. 12. It was fantastic. We stayed in Arden building room 411. The room was a little on the small side but it was fine for us. There was a fireplace in the bedroom and a very large jacuzzi in the bathroom. I think the bathroom was larger than the bedroom. One thing I thought was really nice is that they had three different kinds of bath salts by the jacuzzi along with candles. It really was a nice touch. The room was immaculately clean. If you don't like exercise, this room is not advisable because it was on the third floor up two flights of stairs. We didnt mind although after a beautiful and filling dinner the stairs get steeper!! Dinner was great. If you go on the package you get dinner and breakfast. You can pick any items from the menu starting with the appetizer, soup or salad, entree and ending with dessert. The menu is somewhat limited for entrees although there is a chicken, fish, and beef. The breakfast was great.

They also have a small lounge with a piano player. That was nice. We found the staff in the dining room to be a little overworked. The lounge staff was great. If you eat there be prepared for a long leisurely dinner. It took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to eat but we liked that. Also, if you eat in the restaurant people were dressed very nicely. A good portion of the men had on sport coats.

All in all, it was a great stay and convenient to North Conway. We loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.

I usually don’t mind a basic room but we found the room we had reserved in the main building to be extremely disappointing!! I would not recommend most of the rooms in the main building. The room we were first given was tiny with a tiny TV, holes in the ceiling where spiders looked like they would crawl out of, water stained walls and ceiling, an uncomfortable lumpy bed and tiny bathroom with tiny tub and no separate shower. Not at all what we expected or got the impression of from the photos on their web site. We decided to ask to see other rooms in the main building which were a little better but we finally decided to spend another $100 a night to have a room in one of the other buildings. It was well worth the money. The room was gorgeous with a comfortable, lush bed, big TV, huge whirlpool bath surrounded with mirrors, walk in shower, bath salts and bath robes, a fireplace, a nice sitting area in the room and a beautiful sitting area on a patio just outside our room surrounded with lovely flowers. If you’re going to stay here spend the additional $100 it’s more then worth it!! The restaurant was terrific and the service was exellent..

My husband and I have stayed at the Wentworth frequently, most recently this past April. This is one of our favorite places in New England. The rooms are gorgeous and well-apportioned, with romantic fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs (some even have hot tubs!) The staff is courteous and friendly. The rates on the suites are really great and, for a little extra, include a five-course meal at the amazing restaurant and a full breakfast the next morning - I always get the delicious Belgian waffles. This wonderful hotel has all the amenities of its far pricier counterparts, but the warm and welcoming
atmosphere of a country B&B.

My husband and I stayed at The Wentworth a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. We stayed 3 nights in Arden suite 410. The room was very spacious with a separate sitting room, private deck with a hot tub, and bathroom with a glass shower stall. The decor was country with a beautiful king-sized poster bed and fireplace. We ate in the dining room all 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed a 5 course dinners. The ambience, service and food were impeccable. Breakfast was wonderful too with a small buffet and then a hot entree of your choice. There isn't much to do in Jackson Village, but there is good shopping in North Conway and lots of nearby hiking. We would definitely return!

Four and a half stars actually.

We have stayed at the Wentworth each of the last two summers and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. We stayed in an Amster Suite each time and this was perfect for our family of four. It included an oversized bedroom with a small living area including a sofa bed, fireplace and second t.v. The room is very charming--would consider booking it again with just my husband for a romantic weekend.

Perhaps the best things about our accomodations though was that the Amster suites are in a separate building. This building has it's own lobby with sofas, chairs and a fireplace. Just beyond the lobby is a private outdoor area with a jacuzzi tub and sauna. We went the first time with another family and had full run of the whole area as the other suites hadn't been booked. It was great for 4 adults and 5 children.

The hotel breakfast was excellent although not a great choice for 5 active young children. The setting was perfect for grown ups and they do welcome children but hopefully parents choose well in determining if it's a good choice for their children. In nice weather it is available on the patio which is also very pleasant, although if I could relax about my kids' behavior I would much prefer the dining room. They also offer what sounds like a wonderful dinner but we knew it would not be appropriate for our children.

Only downside was that the jacuzzi was missing two of the benches, each right where you climb in and out. Once this is repaired though I don't know where I'd find fault.

Not a lot of activities on site but convenient to Attitash and Storyland. Golf course on site, adjacent to Amster suites. Reservationists are very pleasant and helpful. Thinking of going again this weekend without the children--seems even better suited towards couples .

  • Liked — privacy, hot tub, romantic furnishings, extra space in suite, viewing the stars at night from just outside room

This year on our annual trip to Storyland we selected to stay at the Wentworth. As we were a family of 5, the two room suite seemed to be an easy solution for us. My daughter discribed the three twin beds best as being those of the Three Bears, one too hard, one too soft, and one just right! (She wondered if they were trying to fit in with the storyland theme!) We brought it to the front desks attention and they were very willing to change mattresses for us but it was late and some were all settled so we passed, but hope that they correct it for other guests as one mattress was REALLY bad! Anyway, having viewed their website and read the reviews on trip advisor I knew some of the older/cheaper rooms were not shown on the web. The lobby and grounds were beautiful and breakfast was great. The room we had was old, but clean and roomy. Not sure if we will stay here next time or try someplace else.

Stay away from the main building rooms. I was shocked when I walked into room 117. The room looked more like a World War II army barracks' room instead of the beautifully furnished and spacious rooms depicted on their website. As we walked in We were greeted by the old smelly green carpet, the old, soiled furnishings and the lumpy and itchy mattress. The linens on the sofabed were unclean and used, the mattresses (both) were infested with "something" that gnawed on us all night. Both my husband and I itched all night, we suspect the mattresses were infested by tiny critters. The windows let in a very cold draft all night and there were not extra blankets. The staff were pretentious and unfriendly. The bill did not make any sense. I will not be staying here again.
