Our family stayed one night in April and actually had a good time. We chose the place really as we were passing through on the way to somewhere else and the read-up's from TripAdvisor were good. I'd like to add that we had a lovely stay. We got a very good deal through Groupon, but not sure I would feel the same had I paid the rack rate.
The place is located on the main route through the town, and our room was at the back so we couldn't hear the road at all. We were on the ground floor and the room opened out onto the back garden and 10 seconds walk down to the river. There is a play area for kids and a tennis court as well, but neither were used due to snow....
The place has a lovely welcoming feel to it, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. I had a good chat with the owner who was more than keen to tell me about the neighbourhood, the attractions, where to go and so on. He has a pride in his locality like none other! We had just been skiing and he said that if we returned in the season he could help us get discounts at the two local mountains (not too far away at all) and so on.
The hotel has a lovely little room called the gathering place with books and toys / games for the kids which has a lovely quaint little charm.
I was a little annoyed that they only put breakfast on at the weekend though - the cereals / toaster etc are out all week. Surely the cost of putting some bread and milk out daily isn't going to break the bank. That said, we did go to a little deli over the road for breakfast which was amazing!
The room we stayed in was large and had a nice bathroom too (although we did notice some ants in the bathroom). The toiletries were of good quality. Within the room there was an ice bucket and fridge as well as a small ironing board and iron and a haridryer.
The TV was large - it had direcTV and a DVD player.
The bed was very comfortable - we had a twin room and no complaints from either bed!
There was also a bottle of apple cider in the room. I had no idea if it were complimentary or not.
15 minutes away is the shopping town of North Conway should you wish to get some retail therapy in. 5 minutes down the road is StoryLand - which was closed. The location of the lodge is very amenable to lots of places - it is opposite the Wentworth public golf club too. Jackson itself is very pretty. The waterfalls are magnificent and I would recommend you take the 5 minute drive up to look back over the valley to Mount Washington.
I think I would stay again.
