“Nice stay at Lodge at Jackson Village”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

We arrived a bit early, in the rain, and were able to get an early check in. Our room was a great size and very clean. The breakfast was okay, some homemade goodies, but a bowl of fresh fruit would have been great. The owners are very knowledgeable about the area. All in all, a good stay, but I think next time to the area we will try someplace different.

We stayed at the Lodge at Jackson Village this weekend, and had a very nice stay. The room was quiet, and it was a full house. Everything was neat and clean.

I brought my iPhone, iPad, and Mac laptop, and was unable to get "regular" Internet on any of them. One night I was finally able to get on with my laptop, but the next morning, nothing. It seems to be the area, and not the hotel's problem. I'm just letting others know in case you were planning on working, or communicating via the WiFi.

We did not care for Direct TV as we are used to cable, but again, it does not seem to be a hotel issue. We were able to find some news programs on Direct TV.

We were expecting more of a "lodge", and less of a hotel. This, to us, was a cute hotel.

We enjoyed having the mini refrigerator and hair dryer in the room. We were in a room at the back, and enjoyed it.

Room Tip: First floor by the river

Generally I found the place to a bit dated and little tired and certainly not a bargain. The room was spacious and had a nice porch. Outside the grounds were nicely landscaped and they have a great backyard garden with a pretty stream. The good part about this place is you get to chose your room at booking.

The staff is not always aware of everything, when I checked in I asked about breakfast and the front desk clerk said they don't do breakfast on Monday mornings. Next morning, there was breakfast out. As far as breakfast goes, some of it is homemade baked goods and those were pretty good along side a bunch of other out the box generic stuff, overall it's carb fest, there is not much protein to be had.

Jackson is a great place to visit while you're in the White mountains, However if you are staying in Jackson, North Conway or Conway these places can be pricey and this place might be a decent value for the money of these three places. That being said if you are touring the white mountains and you don't want to pay through the noise for logging there are cheaper areas to stay with places that are nicer, I wish I made Jackson a stop as part my journeys through the White Mountains instead of an overnight.

Room Tip: The Lodge is on a busy street so the front facing rooms are noisy, get a room in the back overlookin...

Stayed here for two nights end of Sept /beginning Oct during a 2 week tour we were doing of various places along the East Coast. We'd been staying in large, impersonal and somewhat stuffy city hotels and it was so refreshing to come to the Lodge. I loved the peace and quiet, the huge beds, fresh coffee and good selection of teas (especially welcome after a week without tea-we're Brits!), welcoming smells of home made breakfast, and good selection of tourist info to help you find your way around (plus the owners were more than happy to answer any questions and give us some pointers). We slept so well and really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I went to Jackson around peak foliage season and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations at the Loge at Jackson Village. It may have been a little pricey, but during that time in the season, we could not find a better value. The location was great, being minutes away from Mt. Washington and steps away from some fantastic restaurants. The rooms may have been slightly dated, but were very clean and had everything you would need. The thing that sets the Lodge apart from others is the passion of the owners. They were very helpful and accommodating. The weekend we were there, we were planning on having Sunday brunch and watch football at the Red Fox. Unfortunately there was a fire that morning and they had to close, but the Belcher family helped us find other great places nearby to grab a nice breakfast and watch our beloved Patriots. We took full advantage of the weekend in Jackson by hiking Mt. Washington and enjoying the Return of the Pumpkin People around town. We would certainly stay at the Lodge at Jackson Village again.

This is a nice place to stay when you visit New Hampshire. It is not a five star hotel but it is very clean and conveniently located. There is a great restaurant right across the street.
We will definitely go back, we climb Mt. Washington every year. It is very nice to go back to a clean place after a long hike on the mountain.

After reading all the reviews on this site, I was prepared to splurge on the Lodge. Now, I'm sorry we did. $200 per night is way overpriced. (maybe they're gouging for Fall Foliage?) Rooms are spacious, but decor is old, mattresses are sorely in need of replacement and whole building seems musty.
Breakfast consisted of a few homemade desserts and a small tub of yogurt with some toppings. The coffee is a unit that makes one cup at a time. It was the same fare each day we were there. Would have welcomed real oatmeal instead of little instant packets. Nothing was hot and very little was healthy or traditional for breakfast and one reviewer got it right when they said there's no place to sit. One very small room with a fireplace that seats about 6 comfortably and everywhere else one must stand and be in the way.
My biggest complaint however, was the little signs all over the lodge. Although stated nicely enough, one had to believe there were rules about everything!! No personal garbage in this trash can, no more hot chocolate due to spills, don't touch the fireplace or start the fire yourself, please recycle all plastic eating utensils, snacks for breakfast only, don't use white towels for makeup, and my all time favorite, please tip the housekeeping staff in this room-numbered envelope and turn in with your room keys. The sign goes on to explain their staff is largely made up of college kids and single moms who need additional support. My suggestion to the owners is to cut some of the unnecessary costs (custom imprinted shampoo bottles, disposable utensils, etc) and pay them more. At $200 per night, I believe they should be well-compensated by the owners. Besides, how does one know if that money ever gets to them since we are asked to give it to the front desk staff? Clearly, the owners are cutting costs in many ways and thinly veiling it with an excuse to "save the planet".
Nope. We won't be going back to the Lodge at Jackson Village.
