Having just completed our fifth stay at The Inn at Ellis River in the past two years, we are eager to share our experience. We love the mountains and the inn is located in an excellent location convenient to the mountain regions we visit. A great evening of relaxation to include the jacuzzi bath and fireplace ends with a quiet, full night of rest in a totally comfortable bed. More consistency is found at breakfast in the spacious, beautifully appointed and bright dining room. A finer breakfast could not be found anywhere. Every possible breakfast item is there from which to choose. Hot and cold, fresh baked goods, local favorites, tea and coffee blends, fresh fruit, homemade granola, pancakes, Belgium waffles, omelets, and creative breakfast dishes are all choices. Be sure to try the special bacon! The staff at the Inn at Ellis River, one and all are dedicated professionals and fine people who put service as their first priority. When I say service, I mean service. Every human need is met by the staff. Every possible question about one's itinerary previously planned or to be planned is within their field of expertise. Answers include free tickets and coupons when available. We arrived a day early for our recent visit in order to avoid an impending snowstorm. It did snow over 14 inches overnight so we decided to remain at the inn for the day. It was wonderfully satisfying. I read, played a game of pool, listened to music, toured the rooms(doors of vacant rooms left open for inspection) and relaxed by the fireplaces. My wife did her needlepoint and read. I will remember walking into the atrium to find beautiful plants, some blooming, others green and growing. The hot tub was in the room. Lots of natural light.
Now for the two surprises. While enjoying breakfast on the morning after the overnight snowstorm, my wife told me she saw that my mid-sized SUV was dug out and cleaned off of snow. It turned out that our server at breakfast was Tamara, one of the innkeepers. She told us that her husband Peter, also one of the innkeepers performed that gracious task! Like we Red Sox fans say, "So good, so good!" Later in the day, Tamara realized we hadn't eaten lunch. We had decided to avoid the snow covered roadways as we did have a very hearty breakfast. None-the-less, when Tamara inquired if she could pick something up for us when she went out, we were happy to oblige and ordered sandwiches. So nice of her! We picked the dates we did so that we could experience the March Maple Madness Weekend. Innkeepers Christine and Tamara and staff member Chrissy all worked hard to prepare us to get the full wonderful experience we came to enjoy. We had another great day visiting the various inns involved in the special event. For this visit, we stayed 6 days in the Thoreau Falls Room on the third floor. Excellent room! We want to thank all those aforementioned as well as innkeepers Frank and Lyn and staff Tini. Frank's cooking is so good, so good! Lyn is a baker! Tini spares no effort to keep you happy at the inn. We have travelled in Europe, Hawaii, and all over the USA. We have stayed in the finest hotels in Boston and other cities. The Inn at Ellis River and it's staff earn our Best of the Best for providing a consistently excellent facility and service and for those big and little surprises ever present .
