Just came back from a wonderful weekend at the Carter Notch Inn. Could not have been happier. The Inn was a warm and comfortable place to visit. Felt like we were old friends returning. Sally and Dick are gratious hosts and made everyone feel welcome. The rooms are very nicely furnished and number 8 with the jaccuzi, fireplace and sitting room made leaving difficult. The breakfast was delicious and having wine, chocolate and cookies available to partake of while sitting in front of the living room fire made things even more special. We met many return guests and enjoyed the many friendly discussions. Where to eat of course always topped the list. Lulu the cat and Henry the sheepdog are wonderful additions to the family and helped welcome everyone. I would highly reccomend the Carter Notch Inn to anyone and we plan to start a tradition and return for the same weekend (if not more often) for years to come. Don't miss this wonderful Inn.

We stayed at the Carter Notch yet again (5th time we think) in December. We were talking to some friends about the Inn over Christmas and they said that maybe there is so much of the world to see that you shouldn´t keep going back to the same place. We understand that way of thinking but we will keep returning as it is just sooo therapeutic and relaxing. Anyway there are loads of other places to combine with the Carter Notch -- we went to Montreal for a few days this trip and next time may take in somewhere wild on the Cape Cod Coast.
The more we go the more we discover around Jackson -- Dick and Sally are a mine of information about restaurants, country walks and shopping in the outlet stores --- which was excellent value this trip.
The Inn was absolutely picture perfect and the breakfasts just wonderful and, as usual, like most guests we fell in love all over again with Henry (the Old English Sheepdog, not the Innkeeper)!
So yes, there is a lot of the world to see before you die but if you find somewhere that´s perfect for you, treat yourself and keep on going back.
Thanks Dick and Sally, Henry and Lulu for another wonderful holiday -- I do hope we can come back in 2007.
Dave and Jenny Watson --- Nottingham, England.
PS If you can find room after Sally´s breakfast goodies you must try the Espresso Cheesecake at the Jackson Deli --- the best cheesecake we have ever tasted.

We just spent the past weekend at the Carter Notch Inn and have to say that we would not hesitate to return. Dick and Sally were very gracious and friendly. There were six of us and Dick and Sally personalized this weekend around extreme shopping which is what we there for. They provided us with maps and coupons to the local shopping areas as well as recommended several smaller more artistic shops to visit. They also provided the paper for our wrapping party at the end of the day! Our room was comfortable, very clean and welcoming. I told them we would definately see them next year but my husband can't wait to go back so I'm sure we will see them sooner.

Stayed here in early October and I have to say that this place absolutely lives up to its reviews. This immaculate inn is located in one of the most picturesque villages on the planet.

Hosts Sally and Dick were incredibly friendly – they even upgraded my room because THEY felt it would better suite my needs – WOW! They were very patient going over detailed sightseeing options. They also suggested the nearby Thompson Eatery for dinner, which was fantastic. Breakfast at the inn was delicious.

One other note: This inn deducts $10 off the price of the room if you’re a single traveler – a classy gesture I appreciate on principle.

I am definitely looking forward to returning to the Carter Notch Inn.

Tip: The ride up the Mt. Washington auto road up was a bit hair-raising – Beware. I would opt for the shuttle van over driving your own vehicle so you can relax and enjoy the views. Well sort of…

After a hectic family wedding in Chicago we flew to Boston , hired a car and set off on a ten day tour of New England . Dick and Sally's Inn was our second stop and only for three nights . Now we know better we might well have stayed the whole ten nights with such friendly and helpful hosts . We had wonderful breakfasts , great chats with our hosts and fellow guests usually with a complimentary glass of wine or a beer in the evenings .

Not knowing the area we asked Dick for suggestions and he could not have been more helpful - everything he suggested was first class from sites to visit and to see as well as places to dine.

Henry - the Old English Sheepdog - and Lulu the cat were as welcoming as their masters.

The Carter Notch Inn is a great find -miss it at your peril!!

We planned a vacation of LEAF PEAPING in New England and fortunately booked 2 nights (wish we had booked more) at Carter Notch Inn located in Jackson, New Hampshire. The property was a three story house very nicely done with a great location.
Our room had a jacuzzi tub and a deck right off the room. The best part of the Inn were the hosts-Sally and Dick. They were extremly nice and did everything they could to help us. My wife had hurt her back during the trip to New Hampshire and was in a lot of pain. Sally let her use their ice pack to help with the pain.
We were not able to drive to the sights we had planned to see in Vermont due to my wife's back. Dick gave us a number of places to visit within 15 minutes of the Inn--and they all were great!
I can't say enough about how much we liked their friendliness; and the food was Great! And then there is HENRY, their english sheep dog, who was just as friendly. If we are ever in Jackson again we certainly will stay at the Carter Notch Inn.

This was our first experience to a bed and breakfast and Dick and Sally made a memorial impression. I found the Carter Notch online and read the reviews. Its hard to find a B&B with so many good reviews, I thought it too good to be true. I was not disappointed. We booked Room 8, it had a wonderful view of the golf course and mountain from the rooms porch. The room had a private bath and a Jacuzzi tub on the second level. Even though the room was on the third floor it was worth the climb, it was not a problem for us. All the rooms seems very comfortable, but some don't have a private bath. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Henry the dog, Dick and Sally were very personal and at our service. The breakfast had a personal touch and was better than any local restaurant. The location of the Inn is a five minute walk from “the center” of town. Jackson is not that big. The falls and river are a two minute walk. The grounds are a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a quite setting, it even has a nice outdoor Jacuzzi. I wish I had more time to golf and enjoy just sitting in the living room next to the fire. If your looking for a quite, enjoyable, comfortable BB in the White Mountains, this is the spot!
