Although the place is not quite as posh as some of the other Inns I have stayed in you get an huge breakfast with great staff waiting on you. The Shovel Handle closes rather early 9pm for my speed and if you arrive late there is no food at the bar or room service. So I think the place is geared more toward familes(lots of screaming running down the hall kids) and not couples. Room 10 was extreamly small you get a bed, old tv and bathroom thats it... the shower is more like a drip of water..they really need to invest in some shower heads.. but it was warm... The area is very nice everyone we met or waited on us was very nice. Its close to all sorts of winter fun.

Room Tip: Room 12 has a large king, with a sitting area althogh at the top of the stairs a nice veiw of black...

One of the best things about our experience at Whitney's Inn was the level of safety and comfort for the kids in our group. While the parents played games by the fireplace, the kids played hockey on the ice rink and watched movies in the family room off the lobby. It's just the kind of place you want to spend a weekend with your family, because there's something for everyone!

We loved this wonderful gem in New Hampshire. Lovely accommodations, easy access to ski lift and wonderful food. We had an awesome weekend here with family and friends. The staff are very helpful and kind and truly are concerned that your experience is memorable. We will definitely visit again and recommend Whitney's Inn without reservation.

Room Tip: Room 11 is awesome, and luxury rooms 12 and 14 are very spacious!

We stayed at the Whitney's in with a large group for the 6th year in a row. This place is awesome, the owner does a great ice rink every year for skating and hockey every night. It is close to a bunch of great ski areas like wildcat, Canmore, and attitash. Great pub right at the in called the Shovel Handle with live music every afternoon and great food. On top of all that they include a great breakfast every morning. Can't wait to go back again next year

Room Tip: Book the king rooms they are great with views

We had an amazing long weekend at the Inn. The bed was so comfortable, the room was very clean and spacious. The Innkeeper was very helpful and accomodating. The breakfast included in the room was delicious. The staff was great. Absolutely no complaints!! We will definitely be back!!! It's so cozy and the pub being attached is so convenient on those cold winter nights!!!

It's not posh, but certainly very convenient if you're skiing at Black Mountain. My girlfriend and I just returned from a night there with our two kids and we stayed in a suite with one bedroom and a pullout sofa in the living room. The inn was clean and the room was an ample sized one, if not a spartan one. One negative is that the doors are paper-thin and the ceilings seemed to be, as well. The noise never woke me up, but it's not silent either. I liked the hot cocoa and cookies upon check in. We ate dinner at the on-site bar/restaurant and it was simple but pretty good. And the breakfast (included with our room) was excellent. I found this place to be simple, but an excellent option for a place to hang your hat if you're going to be skiing at the mountain that is a short walk across the parking lot.

Improbably nasty. We traveled a couple of hours to spend a weekend just before Christmas to take our daughters on the Polar Express. The afternoon we checked in was rainy, cold, bleak. We checked into our two-room "suite" recommended, no less, by the owner. As has been pointed out by other reviewers, the "suites" are not located in the main building but rather in a non-descript two-story square building separated from the Inn by 200 yards and sits there alone in the middle of a large gravel parking lot. The thermostat read 60 degrees, it was dark, smelled of some combination of body odor and wet dogs and the furnishings, bathroom, bedroom, everything was straight from a flea market. Speaking of fleas, I had never pined for a black light until that moment. It is unfathomable how this Inn remains in business. Perhaps it is off the backs of suckers like us who thought the description of the Inn on their website might be in the vicinity of accurate. Alas, this was not the case. We had just recently stayed a weekend in a wonderful B&B in Freeport, Maine (Brewster House) and this by contrast was like staying in a halfway house. Trust me, don't even think about giving this one a try. It was unquestionably the most shockingly appalling lodging experience of my life.

Room Tip: Choose a room in one of the other two million Inns and Hotels in the area.

As the owner of Whitney's Inn, I have to admit to being shocked by a review like this. I would encourage readers to look at other reviews in reference to Liftline Lodge and ask yourself if this reviewer is being terribly unfair. We are truly sorry that this guest did not have a positive experience but I have many guests who request these same suites because they are family friendly and were renovated just 5 years ago. Once again, we would ask you to look at the other reviews for a fair protrayal of our product.
