“Many wonderful stays at this great little B&B”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

My wife and I first stayed with the Old Field House when we were dating. We escaped to North Conway NH on a snowy and cold MLK weekend in 2008 and we have loved every stay with them since. Rod and Linea are just the nicest people and they remember us each time we return. Breakfast is great and we never pass up the opportunity to have Rod make us his signature waffles.

Typically we stay in one of the Jacuzzi suites which are actually separate from the main inn. The rooms are always clean and homey. Most are appointed with a gas fireplace which is great for those cold winter nights. There are dvd's available at the inn if you want a night in and there is a pool that is heated in the winter and a hot tub.

I really can't say enough about the Old Field house. We stay at least once a year and have never had a disappointing stay. It is our favorite Inn in our favorite region of NH.

Room Tip: The Jacuzzi Suites offer privacy, comfort and value.

We recently stayed at this Bed and Breakfast, and were very disappointed. Although, as other guests have said, the owners were very helpful and friendly, the place itself is in need of some TLC. The main building is very dark, and the carpets in the entrance needed a good clean. The dining room was small, and when a lot of guests were in there, we got in each other's way when trying to get to cereal, drinks and pastries. The inkeeper did make a really good waffle though, and was worth the wait.

On our last morning, one of the staff members was sat with one of the owners, and was speaking quite loud about some problem she was having with either a friend or a relative, and how they were having therapy of some sort. Not really the kind of conversation that should have been taking place within earshot of guests having breakfast.

We stayed in one of the rooms in the townhomes that the inkeepers manage. The room was very pleasant, but the comforter and the sheets seemed a little old. We had to ask for the sheets to be changed after the first night, as there was a body odor smell to them. The pillows did still have a slight odor, but my husband said he could live with it for a few days, and I always take my own small pillow with me, so I didn't have to use them. There were yellow stains on the heater in the shower area, which looked like urine stains. However, I did try to clean them off and they turned out to be rust marks. There were also stains on the carpet. The fire in the room was a big plus.

All in all, the biggest plus were the owners themselves.

We just spent four incredible nights at Old Field House, enjoying Rod and Linea Hopwood's hospitality, excellent breakfasts, and charming inn, while spending our days at the Fryeburg Fair (great music, activities, exhibits, and more), hiking (exhilarating trails and views), and enjoying the autumn foliage (wow!!).

The greatest asset at this comfortable inn is the owners themselves. They are very hands on, friendly, considerate, and helpful. They take time to help with directions, tips, and to share your tales, experiences, and photos each day. They really enjoy their guests and you will feel completely at home, a member of the family. Helpful too. We happened to mention we were sore from sitting on the grandstand bleachers at Fryeburg Fair - and for the rest of the week we had seat cushions. Going to Mount Washington? They gave us great coupons. Everything we could wish for, and more.

Room Tip: If you need scent-free laundering or you have special diet needs, just ask and the owners will look...

This place really felt like a home away from home. It was extremely kid-friendly with lots to keep them busy, including a nightly movie night, tons of DVDs to choose from to watch in-room, and a games room. The outdoor pool was covered, which was nice since I didn't have to worry about too much sun. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful (including giving me some good hints on how to avoid tourist traffic), and the waffles in the morning were excellent! They are not your ordinary hotel waffles, these were very yummy, filling and cooked-to-order. My favourite was the banana waffles!

We really, really liked this place. It is unlike any other place I have ever stayed before, in that it really does feel like you are visiting relatives instead of paying to stay somewhere. The trade off for the really low cost of staying here is that the property is well used, but not in any way we found to be off-putting. My two teenage daughters, my wife and I all loved the place. The room was clean, it was comfortable and we found the surroundings really relaxing, if not a bit unusual in its total casualness.

Visited the Old Field House Inn the weekend of 8/2/13 through 8/4/13
Booked this hotel based on reviews from Trip Advisor.
The reviews could not be more correct. From check in to exit the transition was very smooth.
We booked a King Jacuzzi suite which is located out back off the main road.
The rooms are huge and are actually part of a condo.
We did not have anyone on the other side so it was very quiet and peaceful
The room was very clean with a sitting area and also a small kitchenette area with sink, microwave and Refridgerator.
The bathroom had plenty of room and two sinks with a 2 person Jacuzzi
Not much more to add as the other reviews say it all.
You are close to many of the attractions in the North Conway area including Tuckerman's Tavern across the street at the New England Inn for lunch and dinner.
Story Land is right around the corner as well as shopping and resorts just a few miles away
I don't need a hotel in this area very often because a friend has a house but I will definetly return when I do need a room!

Room Tip: Don't forget to visit the Red Parka Pub in Glen NH just down the street. And say hello to Jerry...

My family went up during the Memorial Day weekend. We have been going to the Old Field House for the last couple of years with my sisters family. The owners of the Inn are extremely nice. They treat everyone like family. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast is wonderful, especially the "french toast waffles". My daughter loved the heated pool and the movie room. The Inn is a great place for a family to stay at. We come back every year and we plan to come back for many more years.
