From the moment we walked into the Inn, greeted by Teddy Bear, the dog, we felt very at home. Room was perfect, loved all the spacious areas to sit, relax, we had the GREATEST time one evening of our two night stay in the pool. Noodles and floaties were provided. The hot tub was awesome. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Our inn keepers were helpful when we asked about surrounding area attractions, where we took recommendations to visit and loved the falls we found, and best of all, they were so nice and kind! I would definitely come back again. Your location is desirable! LOVED IT! So did our teenage girls.

My husband and I visit the Conway area 3-4 times a year and the Old Field House has been our go to place for years now. We always stay in one of the fireplace jacuzzi suites at The Farm behind the main inn building. I can't speak for the rooms in the main inn.

The Field House is centrally located to all the attractions in the Mount Washington Valley. Since it is on route 16a in Intervale, you don't have to deal with the North Conway traffic every time you leave. This is a huge bonus, especially during peak times of the year.

If you are looking for a slick, contemporary place, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a warm, inviting New England inn with unmatched hospitality, you've found the right place. While the rooms aren't modern, they are clean and well-kept. The owners spend time each Spring making small updates to the rooms as necessary. My husband and I stay in the same suite each time and have noticed a new carpet one year, the bathroom repaired the next, new mattress another visit, you get the idea. I think the past visit the mini fridge had been replaced with a new one.

Rod and Linea will bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. You want restaurant suggestions? They've got them and will make a reservation for you if necessary. Are you going up the Mt. Washington Auto Road? Linea has discount coupons for you. Looking for sneakers at the outlets? Linea will tell you who has the best deals that week. Getting stuck in traffic? They can tell you the shortcuts. If you need something and they don't have it or if the aren't sure about something, they will point you in the right direction to get what you need. I've heard guests ask about dry cleaners, tire stores, etc. before and they always have a quick answer.

The main inn is a very short walk from the suite where we stay. Breakfast is served every morning and is included with most rooms. We are not talking instant coffee and Hostess donuts here. You get a buffet that includes cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, bagels, and pastries and bread from a local bakery. If that's not enough, Rod makes Belgium waffles to order. Not just plain either, he also makes banana, chocolate chip and blueberry!

The main inn has a few common areas including a game room and a TV room where they show movies for the kids every night. There is also a year-round heated pool and hot tub.

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay, I can't recommend the Old Field House enough.

Perfect lodging for any families. This is our fourth stay and we plan to return.

We spent a beautiful labor day weekend at this Country Inn with our 4 kids. The first day was spent "chilling" with the kids at the pool (heated all year long, with a roof), jacuzzi, playroom... The next two day days were spent hiking and visiting Mount Washington. The inn is the perfect place to stay with children. They even have a "movie theater", with hundreds of movies to chose from. The game room is equipped with a ping-pong table, basket game, air hockey table etc. The family room has dozens of games to chose from. The inn has family rooms and bunk beds for kids. We were occupying a room that could accomodate the 6 of us: one room for the parents, and one for the 4 kids, each equipped with its own TV and DVD. Breakast cooked by the owner is a treat for the kids: Family size waffles, bread from the local bakery, and many other treats such as sausages and scrambled eggs. Staying at the Old Field House is like visiting family, the owners being so welcoming.

We're a couple with little kids, we spent a weekend at the motel and went to Storyland.
We enjoyed overall, but it was different from what we expected.

Getting there is tricky, it took 4 hours from Boston, there's heavy traffic around North Conway as the highway only has one lane in each direction. Learn the map to find the new North-South road that runs parallel, it can save you time and energy. Finding the place is also challenging.

The motel is small, the rooms are small (fine for a couple, okay up to 4 people, too tight for 5).
It's run by a very nice old couple, they're friendly and hospitable, they serve a very good breakfast and try to accommodate special requests. The dining room is not handicap accessible, there are many stairs.
The pool and hot tub are outdoors but they're heated, the pool is also covered, so it's enjoyable even when it rains (that's a big advantage over other motels in the area).

There's a game room in the basement with lots of games for kids, and a huge TV with a DVD library. The air is not great as the basement is not well ventilated.

The rooms are small, they only have one small window each, their ceiling is at 7'-6" or so.
The mini fridge is tiny, it's maybe 1 cubic foot. It's not on when you arrive, you have to plug it in and wait... The towels are small, old and worn, they feel rough.
The bed is only a foot away from the corridor, which is over-lit 24/7
We couldn't sleep with the A/C on due to the noise, we opened the door for cross ventilation and covered the top of the door with a towel, to block some of the light
so the sleep quality was not great

We emailed in advance notifying them that we're celebrating a special occasion, asked for something special, even offered to pay for it. Nothing was done, our request was ignored

The south side faces the parking lot, the north side has a nice view of green landscape

Overall it's a nice motel, run by very nice people, fairly priced and close to Storyland
it feels kind of like visiting grandma's house, it's family friendly and informal
You may enjoy staying there if you know what to expect

Room Tip: Ask to be on the green side, not the parking lot The rooms are very small, no more than 4 people fit comfortably Call in advance to ask them to plug in the fridge if you need it

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Old Field House. We were 2 families, each with an 8 yr old, and the kids LOVED it. Rod and Linea treat everyone like family. The cosy, home from home atmosphere made our stay so much more enjoyable than it would have been in a hotel, and the little extra touches like providing snack bars and making hot drinks available at all times topped off the experience. As previously mentioned the waffles are the best!
