“Fabulous Place!!”

We decided to visit Squam Lake, New Hampshire. We selected Squam Lake Inn as our accommodation in the area and were delighted with our two night stay. It has great WIFI, comfortable beds, smallish but stylish rooms, and spotlessly clean. Every staff member we came across was very friendly and always willing to assist. The Inn is a wonderful old home that has contemporary decor with every amenity the traveller may need. The attached cafe provides delicious meals and a friendly and warm atmosphere. Although the cafe is attached to the Inn the noise was minimal as they shut down the cafe at around 9pm. What we particularly liked were the quiet and private spaces (e.g.: verandah) where you can relax ands enjoy some some quiet time. It is within walking distance of the town of Holderness,
Squam Lake Inn is one of the best B&B's we have experienced in the US.
PS: While is the area make sure you do the Rattlesnake Hike for spectacular views of Squam Lake,

This little piece of heaven is a great place to stay while driving New England. Every element from the way we where greeted upon arrival (hot tea, warm cookies) to the decor, the cleanliness and the kindness of the staff was beyond exceptional. The restaurant is amazing and the food is flavorful. The only small drawbacks were the size of the room we chose (Loon room) and the fact that there is only one option for breakfast. Other than that, It is truly a bed and breakfast that is built and maintained with love. It's such a special place and we can't wait until we come back again. We would recommend over and over again!

WE recently spent 3 nights at Squam Lake Inn and wished we could have stayed longer. Molly and the team were very welcoming, nothing was too much, all done with calm efficiency, friendliness and a laugh. On arrival in late afternoon there was cookies and hot apple cider available (OK, this is NOT done every day..) and was just what we wanted after a long day. The room (Bennett Cove) was an absolute delight, warm cosy and comfortable, a view over the garden and a patio swing outside, a little bit like stepping into a Tennessee Williams play, we loved it.
We used this as a base to hike up Rattlesnake Trail (fantastic view at the top of west Rattlesnake) and for lovely lake boat rides. Don't miss the natural history centre in Holderness, either. Breakfast was a real treat, different every day and a real delight. The owners and staff have done a great job here, we were sorry to leave and highly recommend that you stay a few nights

I've stayed at this Inn twice and love the gardens, the food, and the incredible lake. The rooms are a little on the small side and the first time I only had a shower - I prefer a bath, but this is a great small inn to stay in on your own or with a romantic partner. I would like more information about the surrounding areas and I feel it falls short on having this. I also asked the manager about availability for some friends celebrating a wedding anniversary and wanting to come up to NH to see the fall leaves - she promised to check on availability - two weeks later, I'm still waiting for a response.

Room Tip: If you have luggage ask for a downstairs room, so you don't have to haul cases up the stairs. Th...

Green Features: They ask us to set things for recycling next to the bin - I certainly did not want papers on the floor, so I binned everything. It would cost them very little to have an additional recycle bin in each room. They also show no evidence of recycling or energy conservation & I would prefer that.

Very clean rooms with cable TV. Great restaurant with outdoor seating. Wonderful service. Quiet and restful setting. Within walking distance of a great little country store that services delicious espresso drinks.

Room Tip: Some rooms have remote controlled gas fireplaces.

My husband and I recently stayed in Squam Lake Inn for 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and were always on hand to answer any questions we had (we would have liked more guidance on what hikes to do however e.g. 20min hike to top of Rattlesnake Mtn gives AMAZING view at top for virtually no work! They shared maps and useful book of hikes in the area with us but there's nothing like a local steer to start you off and this is an obvious one)

The Inn itself is a delight! The decor is just lovely, so cozy, clean and welcoming. We stayed in The Loon room which was very comfortable.

Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Small orange juice and fruit bowl to start always followed by small hot dishes like sausages or pancakes - not very imaginative and would not keep you going till lunch! The afternoon cookies were fab though. The Squam Lake Market in Holderness does some great sandwiches for lunch and is just few minutes walk or drive from the Inn.

We had dinner one night at the Inn (other nights we went into Meredith which is only village in vicinity of Holderness of any substance. It has some decent restaurants e.g. Lago and a pretty boardwalk by the Lake.) Service at the Inn was super slow. The staff are very nice and there seemed to be a lot of running around but with not much results! Another couple complained when we were there. When the food came it was tasty. One piece of advice however - they should keep the door to the kitchen closed..the dining room is lovely but we could see people washing the dishes from our table! Also my Cornish hen and mash tasted great but could have looked more appetizing.. Everything on the plate was grey and soupy..the mash was too runny and they should have left the carrots their natural orange colour (rather than soaking them in wine) to give the plate a lift. Great wine selection.

Overall I would recommend the Inn as the interior is just lovely and staff are very nice..just be forwarned on breakfast and the slow service if you stay for dinner.

The Squam Lake Inn is conveniently located next to town. The breakfast was wonderful and served each day with a smile. The room was comfortable and quiet. The staff is very helpful with any questions about the surrounding area and things to do. I would stay there again.
