We had a delicious meal here at the end of September - food was high quality and well prepared. The server was exceptionally enthusiastic and knowledgeable about all the food offered. We cannot rate him more highly.

We had a bery good meal. Scalops, stuffed Sol fish , soup and Ceasar salade. It was quality food. Compliments to the shef
We sat oitside in a nice patio, but it was so dark we could not see the food, not to mention the menu.
We waited 45 minutes for the main dishes and half an hour for extra bread. If you go there you have to be patient and not very hungry. The portions are not big.
With a little effort this place can be an outstanding restaurant.

we love this place, but last nights dinner was bad.had 2 caesar salads, which came out as chopped romane with lemon juice.no dressing,no parmesan cheese,no offer of black pepper from waitress.
wife had gnochi which was fried first? and was then hard and had to be cut with knife.gnochi should be soft and pillowy so it can absorb the sauce.
portions were small for high prices and service was bad.waited half hour for entrees to come out
we won't be going back soon

About five years ago, we had dinner at the Squam Lake Inn Kitchen and Bar for the very first time. The food and service were so outstanding that we went back again twice in the same summer.

Three years ago, we had a disastrous experience there. We vowed never to return again. This year, we have had mixed reviews from friends so we decided to give the place another chance. What a disappointment! The filet mignon steak was tough and grizzly, the stuffed sole was dry, the bacon burger was overdone and the cheese in the middle didn't help and finally the portebello mushroom stack was not tasty. The Caesar salads were fine and so was the pear salad -- altogether, it was an unpleasant experience. The service was extremely slow -- we shall not be returning any time soon.

We already had reservations in Center Sandwich, but cancelled them on a recommendation from a local for the Squam Lakes Inn. We definitely made the right move. It is hard to get same-day reservations, but one day ahead is fine. We were seated immediately in the inner dining room (there is also an enclosed porch and outside patio seating that had happy diners despite a cool drizzly evening - the food is so good that people will take whatever seating they can get). The service was enthusiastic and friendly, if a little slow - but there isn't much to rush off to after dinner in the area, so it doesn't much matter. The wine list provided unusual offerings - I wouldn't order the one I chose again. But my husband enjoyed his craft beer. We ordered two fantastic salads made with local ingredients. Our entrees of local wild mushroom ravioli and a burger of 50/50 beef and ground bacon were outstanding. We had been contemplating a cheese board appetizer, but overheard the waiter telling our neighbors about the ice cream sandwiches for dessert, made with home-made ice cream and cookies, so we opted to backload the calories. Yum! Go: you won't be sorry.
