“Overpriced, Stuffy and Average Food”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

The restaurant looks like it was once a barn that needs a good cleaning and some new paint. It is not air conditioned so on a hot summer night expect to be hot with the natural heat along with the heat from the kitchen. Tables and chairs are old and uncomfortable. The food is overpriced and the quality isn't there. My salad ($9.00) was not as good as I make at home. My scallop dinner ($26.00) had three scallops, undercooked kale and some unknown white stuff that was bland and left on my plate. There were four dinners at our table and no one had great things to say about their meals. Skip this place for fine dinning and go somewhere else.

Sorry, we can't appropriately respond to this review. I don't think you were at our restaurant based upon our comments. The only thing that rings true is we do have scallops on our menu. Nothing else describes the property or atmosphere. The Inn Kitchen + Bar is casual dining experience. There are so many comments that are false that we must discredit this review. Our dining room does have AC. No walls need painted. The tables are 2 year new handcrafted black walnut tables. We do have a gorgeous barn on the property that is home to a gift shop. The restaurant is clean--very clean--refer to other Trip Advisor reviews for the inn and the restaurant. We will put our menu pricing up to any restaurants menu pricing in the Lakes Region.

“Inspired Local Fare”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

What an incredible place. The food was local and fresh, the servers were incredibly nice & funny, and it was a very inventive menu. And the location – sitting outside in the beautiful weather amidst flowers and next to a big red barn – was fantastic.

We stayed in the area and came back every night to eat here. Try the ice cream sandwiches – they're out of this world.

“Terrific and Creative”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We ended our 2 weeks in New England with dinner at the Squam Lake Inn Kitchen and Bar. This was quite the discovery. They have a very creative menu. The grilled artichoke was a standout. The bartender was right on the mark with the recommendation of wine. If in the area do not miss this outstanding restaurant.

“Our Best Ever Dining Experience in the NH Lakes Region”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

My wife and I, who are year round natives, have dined in nearly all of the NH Lakes Region's best restaurants. All things considered - ambiance, quality of ingredients, imaginative menu, service - this was the finest dining experience we have ever had in our locale.

The staff knew this was our wedding anniversary. Complimentary sparkling wine greeted us on our arrival. We chose to dine outside on this perfect summer day. The outdoor seating area was very nicely landscaped with attractive flower gardens.

We began our meal with a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were fabulous. We split the Squam Lake Inn wedge salad. Most of the vegetables were locally grown. The buttermilk blue cheese dressing was mouth watering. My wife's entree was the portobello stack, which includes fried goat cheese, quinoa, and a variety of mushrooms. She was very pleased with all aspects of this meal. I ordered the burgundy marinated steak tips, which came with pan seared potatoes and a very unusual type of carrot I had never eaten before. The flavor of the steak tips was extraordinary. For dessert, my wife had the ginger ice cream molasses cookie sandwich, which she adored. When I explained that I'm diabetic and can only eat fruit, the kitchen whipped up a dish of blueberries with white peach slices topped with whipped cream. Yum! That's service.

The Squam Lake Inn's meals are very carefully crafted, with thoughtful attention to every ingredient and how to best combine them. They use locally grown produce wherever possible.

The oysters were $27, the salad $8, the portobello stack $16, the steak tips $19, and the desserts were approximately $5 each. Total tab, with gratuity, was slightly over $100. That is pretty standard for better dining in the Lakes Region.

Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. She paced the meal perfectly.

This experience was everything we hoped for on our anniversary. We will return often.

Plan your visit to peruse the merchandise in their Red Barn shop next door, which is open from 11 - 5. They have quite an imaginative selection, including some books by local authors.

We did not stay overnight at the Inn, but we do want to note that it is a bed and breakfast.

The Inn serves lunch as well as dinners. Check their menus on line.
