Went here with my daughter on a Saturday in October around 6pm and was surprised to find there were very few empty tables despite the early hour. While we were there the phone rang almost non-stop with takeout orders, and by the time we left at 7.15 there was a line out the door of people waiting for tables. The food was excellent although it was frustrating having to wait a good 30 minutes for our food to arrive after we'd ordered it. It was worth the wait - naan bread that melted in our mouths being the highlight. Will definitely go back.

Not that there is abundant competition, but Jewel of India delivers competently prepared, "real" Indian food that won't make a vegetarian wince or worry about hidden no-nos lurking in the sauce. We had two vegetarian dishes, and each one was just right, as were the rice and the bread we ordered. Our friend liked her lamb dish, too, so not just vegetables. The place is a converted single family house that is kind of bare bones in appearance. Service was pleasant, though not effusive. It's a very small restaurant, with not too much space between tables, so not ideal for conducting secret negotiations or assignations, but it works for dining.

Our family has been going here for over a decade and the food is very good. The breads are excellent- flavorful and delicate. Every dish has a distinct taste with the spice adjusted to your preference. It is a busy place so the service can be slow, but our waiter refilled our water glasses five times tonight so I do not understand the complaints about inattentive service. The vegetable pakoras are a steal at $2.95. They come with onion kulcha, mint chutney and tamarind sauce. I wish I could buy these sauces by the bottle.

We eat at Jewel of India occasionally with the hopes that the service will get better. I have to say over the past few years it has improved. The staff there do not smile or they don't know how to or just don't care.

Food is delicious. I had the lamb Rogan Josh and it was fantastic.

It is the only Indian restaurant in the area so perhaps they don't smile because they don't have to. They are the only game in the area.
