My husband & I needed to get away for a few days. I found Lamies Inn and Tavern website & took a chance. Lovely place. Quiet old world charm. Tavern & restaurant have great food. Giant shrimp coctails and great happy hour drinks. No need to drive around, they have it all. We did take a shopping trip to Kittery about 10 minutes from there. 2 miles away to Hampton Beach we watched lots of surfers in the icy cold surf.Lots of fun to watch. We were there over Veteran's day weekend. We will go back!

The location has the feel and warmth of yesterday with the comforts of today. Just amazing since the original building was constructed in the 1700's. The staff were very accommodating and the food outstanding. Hugh portions especially on the seafood platter! The Sunday brunch is a must and worth a trip just for it. We appreciated the fact we could stay in a wonderful room, have a great meal then enjoy ourselves in the tavern with entertainment and not have to drive...

Room Tip: Book a room and enjoy yourself for the evening with great dining, happy hour in the tavern and enter...

We stayed at Lamies in room 40 for 5 days while looking to buy a home in the area. Lamies is a fixture in Hampton since the 1760's on the corner of High St. & Route 1 that has colonial charm, is comfortable, has a warmth that you don't find in corporate owned hotels, and a most wonderful staff. The room always smelled fresh and clean. If you want to leave something for housekeeping, you can do so by having it added to you room charges. The inn and attached Old Salt restaurant are family owned and operated by the Higgins family. Special thanks to Kathy and Mo (Maureen) at the Front Desk.

Yes, there is a quirk such as the light switch being in a closet just outside the bathroom, but there is a closet where one didn't exist in the past.

In the room there is a microwave and small fridge. Don't look for a coffee pot in the room. You can get free coffee and tea down in the lobby at all times of the day.

A nice touch is the free internet access and the ability to print boarding passes from a computer in the lobby. They don't charge you for printing the boarding passes either! Another nice touch is the checkerboard set up for play on the second floor and if you would like an apple or an orange, you may take them from the bowls that are set out.

Fruit, juice, bagels, muffins, cereal, and hard boiled eggs are on offer for breakfast. Nothing fancy, but quite good.

The bar is very active and friendly with a mix of locals and guests. The Old Salt restaurant has some really good clam chowder and the fried clams were small and sweet whole belly clams. For those who don't care for the whole belly clams, you can get clam strips. Instead of french fries, try the home made chips as they are very good!

Since the inn is centrally located in downtown Hampton, you can walk to shops, a market, pharmacies, and restaurants.

At the end of busy days, the inn was a great place to relax and call home.

I had a fantastic stay at Lamies, and an even better time at the Old Salt. The staff was more than accomodating when I had a problem with my reservation, the room was comfortable, quaint and clean. The Old Salt was a fantastic establishment with locals as well as out of towners, and provided great live music and excellent prices. I'll make sure to visit Lamie's again before the end of the year, and recommend it highly! Thanks for a great time!

Lamie's Inn is exactly the kind of off the beat little bed and breakfast inn you hope to find while wending your way through New England. Charming, historic, friendly, comfortable. The food was outstanding at The Old Salt Tavern, though the proportions were huge. We over-ordered, not knowing what to expect!. I liked the spinach with strawberry salad, clam chowder—I'm still meaning to write to them and have them ship me some, which they will do.

We had wonderful stay at Lamies. The staff was very nice and the food was fantastic. Best swordfish we ever had! The room was comfortable and the clean. We had a drink in the tavern before dinner and felt relaxed and very welcomed. We will definitely be back!

Lamie's is a nice little inn, but the rooms are extremely small and the location isn't nearly as quaint as we were led to believe. Located at a busy intersection, the inn is surrounded by bars, restaurants, stores, super markets, pharmacies, etc.. It's a 20 minute drive to the heart of old historic Portsmouth, so if you're planning to visit that area you can do better in terms of location than Lamie's. If you're just looking for a weekend getaway, then Lamie's offers good service, a nice attached restaurant, and enough Colonial charm to warrant the price. If you really want to experience downtown Portsmouth though, you may want to consider an alternative. This is really more "motor lodge" than romantic inn.

We’re happy that you enjoyed our inn, and we were pleased to celebrate your 10th anniversary with you!
We do strive to retain the colonial charm of an old-fashioned inn on our property and within our building! We hope that each of our guests will enjoy the warmth of our hospitality while relaxing in our guest rooms, restaurant and tavern.
While we are not located in downtown Portsmouth, we find that many of our guests appreciate that we are centrally located to many of the quaint historic New England towns like Exeter (6 miles), Portsmouth (10 miles) and Newburyport, MA (10 miles). And of course, our little town of Hampton does have many charming shops, fine restaurants, and historic sites to discover, many within walking distance! The ocean is only 2 miles down the road and you can choose from bustling Hampton Beach or some of the quieter picturesque beaches.
Thank you for taking the time to write about Lamie’s Inn.
