The Pelham Resort Motel

My boyfriend and I decided to take a long weekend up at Hampton Beach and we were referred to The Pelham by some friends of ours. Immediately we felt at home, the girls at the desk greeted us with friendly smiles and offered to help us bring our bags to our room. The room was great, with an excellent view of the ocean from our window. We didn't want to pay more money for a private balcony so we sat on the huge front porch instead and had a few drinks at night and people watched.
Everything was so great and clean. The maids came every day to clean the room and the pool was great to come back to after a long day on the beach. All in all it was a great relaxing vacation with great people and lots of things to do on Hampton Beach. We will be back to visit Hampton and The Pelham Resort very soon.

My wife used to go up to Hampton Beach with her mom every year until 2003-2004, when she got sick and passed away, then I took her up in 2006 to another hotel, then heard that hotel was being converted to a restaurant, so we stayed at the Pelham in 2007. The room was great, but the bath a bit small for a big guy like me. In 2008 we decided to take my sister with us (weird, I know), and the room we had was perfect! Yes the pool may be close to the trash area, but it's an old hotel ( as most hotels there are), and you can tell the apts. were added later, but I don't mind. Going just up to Hampton Beach, I'm not expecting anything fancy-schmancy. The proximity is great! You can park your car and don't need it, as everything is in walking distance! Especially the Sea Ketch restaurant, where I get my wife and I ice-cream sundaes at night! They Have an ice-cream stand on the ground floor of the restaurant (They also have good breakfasts and dinners too!) Also, if you want to drive, take Rt 101 to downtown Hampton, and there is a movie theater right on Rt. 1. My wife and I have our reservations for summer 2009, as well as the Seafood Festival in Sept., and I can't wait to go!

Like some of the other reviewers, we stay the same week every year. It is honestly like coming home every time... they remember all the regulars year to year, and we don't even have to give our names at check-in... they already know them!!!

The hotel itself is in the best location, directly across the street from the playground on the beach. If you like to people-watch, you will LOVE their front porch... Blinks FryDoe and SeaKetch are just steps away from the hotel, and for people with kids, there is lazer-tag in the hotel basement.

The rooms are simple and clean. Warning for the technologically-addicted, ***no phones or internet*** but as i'm on vacation from the realworld, WHO CARES??? ;-) We fit 4 people in our room for a week without any major problem. Last year, we even had 6 in there for a couple nights, no problem. If you want the better rooms, tho, you need to be grandfather'd in, so no use complaining if you don't get a balcony or apartment room... someone needs to die for you to get it... sorry!

The staff is wonderful... especially Chuck, the owner. More days than not, he is up early to clean the pool (outdoor, heated by the way) and get the housekeeping team started. breakfast is out by 6-ish (who gets up at 6 on vacation???) in the afternoon, he checks new guests in and gets everyone settled, then sits outside with us until the wee-hours of the morning...

bottom line, if you want the Ritz, this place isn't for you... but if you want a clean, comfortable, simple place to stay with great people... this is definately it...

p.s. 1st week in august is when all the best people stay!!!!

We have been staying at Pelham for over 15 years. From the first minute of the the very first year we stayed at the Pelham , we were treated like family by Chuck & Jackie and Helen & Tony! The location is fabulous. Our room is clean and comfotable. And the porch, at night, is the place to be! An added bonus to this accomodation is the pool, which Chuck maintains every morning. Over the years we have met a number of great people who continually come back to the Pelham the same week as we do every year. It's certainly the vacation we look forward to every summer. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We have stayed at the Pelham for over 10 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else at the beach! For us the key is the people, especially the Rage family who has become part of ours. They couldn't be more accomadating, generous or friendly. The apartments behind the main building is where we call home with about 25 other friends each year and they're set up with all the conveniences of home. The built-in heated swimming pool is a huge plus. The Rages are also wonderful to our children who have enjoyed the Pelham experience most of their lives and can't wait to return every year. Thank you Chuck, Jackie and Helen!

To start... you walk up a steep staircase followed by a slanted hallway, so don't bother bringing big bags unless you are very strong because you will hurt yourself.... It smelt as though every room was joint in with the smoking rooms, which is very unfortunate for asthmatic people. The room we payed $150 a night for was incredibly small--didn't even have a closet to classify it at a real "room". Our sheets even had holes in them. Our air conditioner was broken AND ripped on the side so that not only cold air was blowing in on us all night but we felt every bit of rain coming in to join us. The walls were paper thin so you can hear absolutely everything that was going on in the other rooms at all times. The bathroom was the size of a coffin. The parking was awful... two streets down and so crammed, I was always worried someone was going to hit my car by either trying to back out or trying to get out of their car. Being in the younger age category, I felt as though the staff at the Pelham snubbed me and my friend... they were very rude to us and didn't seem to care about how our stay was going AT ALL. Needless to say, we will definitely find somewhere else to stay next time... because we will be back--but only because of the great beach and surrounding beach life!!

We went to the Pelham in New Hampshire for a week this year. My sister and I go every year. The place is central to everything on Hampden Beach. You just walk across the street to the beach. The rooms are very nice. A continental breakfast is included. There is a nice sitting area and a nice porch. They supply a microwave and a toaster. there are refrigerators in the rooms. The staff is very accomendating. We went to 2 shows at the Club while we were there. The weather was beautiful but even if it wasn't, there is a theater nearby and there is always someone there for games, etc. if the weather is bad. After going there for years, it is almost like a homecoming every years. It's like Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name. We absolutely love staying there. The owners are more like friends. They have people who bring them flowers and other gifts because of their wonderful attitude toward their customers.
