“Lovely old decor, average food, service was not great”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

This is a very old establishment and the decor is very nice. Our server wasn't terribly attentive or helpful, but not rude either. My dinner was good, but not excellent. For example, it came with cooked carrots on the side. They weren't even dressed up with seasoning, etc, it was like something you'd serve in a hospital or nursing home! I really can't agree with the excellent reviews. It was just average for us.

“New England Flavor”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

An historic building that was converted into a restaurant and tavern, this restaurant's menu was "new England" in food with warm hospitality and a very friendly atmosphere. Our room had dark wood, a huge fireplace and a large sailing ship with tiny lights strung along the sails on its mantle. Eye- catching! The North Atlantic Haddock was excellent. We finished our dinner with ice cream choosing Gifford's Lobster Tracks and Gifford's Muddy Boots. Large dishes were brought out and without effort we finished it all. A great flavorful finish to a delicious dinner. Thank you, The Old Salt.

“Good seafood restarant”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

We stayed at Lamies Hotel and the restarant was attached. I definitely recommend it. Good food and great service. The lounge was a little quaint and somewhat tacky, but served it's purpose.

“Historical New England Tavern”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

The Old Salt is in Lamies Inn - a quintessential New England Inn and Tavern. As you enter the hallway is lined with historical pictures of Hampton and the Inn back in the day. Next you notice the wonderful antique wood work. Beautiful dark wood paneling that dates back to the opening of the Inn. You are also met with a wonderful aroma from the huge working fireplace that warms the room especially on a foggy New England day. The menu is large and has traditional New England fare. The seafood is outstanding - always fresh and prepared to perfection. The burgers are also great. The clam chowder is the best you'll find in NH. But save room for dessert! The selection is enticing enough for those who say they can't eat another bite! This is a locals favorite spot.

“rude service”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

i had waited all year to stay at the lamies inn. we ate there both nites, the first nite was amazing the waitress was timely professional, and top notch. even had her bartender make a speciality drink for me she was lively and made great mood for us. the following nite, we decided to stay in and eat again at the pub because it was it was seemed so accomadating and convient, the waitress ruined our nite, she was uninterested, and rather depressing, i would have rather gone and served my own food to my table, me being a waitress up in northern nh, never bring your personal problems to work, and dont play with your phone in front of your customers. she was too busy playing with her phone and joking around out back with staff all putting on fake mustaches and joking around, then came to our table and acted like ben stein, and honestly making me feel like a hassle for being there but the minute four professional business men came in, she forgot all about us and turned into i dream of jeanine to them.. it will be a 50/50 when it comes to service there, and the food was mediocre at best.. right off the sysco truck.. service is all you got when your food the best.. thanks for ruining my trip old salt, the continetal breakfast was better than anything.. and at least the front desk lady was nice and seemed to enjoy her job, and was appreciative i choose to stay with there hotel as it was an exchange through my company to choice from all over new england. i will stay at the hotel again and again, but dont let the hipe of the old salt think your missing out.
